A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...

A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...

And was crying on the phone. I saw her later on and said Whats the matter? Are you okay? And she said 'I spent too much on my wedding'

So she proceeded to tell me about all the extras that they had....

And told me that between her and her parents they spent roughly 250,000!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I almost died when she told me that her dress alone was 42,000 dollars...

I felt so bad because she was a mess but at the same time I wondered 'Why put yourself into debt like that?'

Anyone afraid that will happen to them? I get worried sometimes myself....

wow... $42k?! i am a strong believer that you should only spend what you can afford, and if you can afford it you should be able to spend your money on whatever makes you happy.....

but that's pretty expensive!

Well I feel bad for your coworker, but I dont understand why she was crying .. I mean nobody asked her to spend 42k on a dress ... really, that is insane, well will she ever wear it again and my whole wedding wont even be the price of her dress I couldnt overspend if I wanted too because there is nowhere to get the money from!

She owes her parents a tremendous amount of money now!

She also said she had to keep up with her other family members.. her parents wouldnt let her get a dj (orchestra only) and other things. I jsut think its crazy how much someone can influence someone elses wedding choices...esp THAT MUCH over!

i am dying to see what her dress looked like for that kinda money!!!

i dont feel bad for her bc she had choices... no one forced her to spend the money the way she did... you spend what is in your means... not above and beyond... its so crazy that some people can get soo wrapped up in the whole wedding process that they seem to lose sight of whats really at hand... the actual marriage and its aftermath...

then i hope her parents paid the diff in $$ between a band and a dj... lol like i said... you cant be forced into making these choices... and if you are that easily influenced... then god help all the other important decisions that you have to make in your life

Well I love my family and all, but if they wanted an orchestra and they should pay for it and not have this girl pay her back. She should have said no if she wanted a DJ. I would never put myself in debt for a wedding esp from my parents, who dont have that kind of money anyway, so thats why I cant go over budget Seriously, I do think its silly to spend that much esp if you dont even have it to spend

Re: A coworker just came back from her honeymoon...

In addition, doe she realize she potentially ruined her marriage already by putting themselves in debt from the getgo? money is the #1 issue in fights and prob why lots of people end up in divorce... poor girl...
