A favor

Original post by bearsbabe_113

As you all know my father is in the hospital and he's not doing too well. So I'd like to ask you all to remember him in your prayers, I'd really appreciate it.

I've always told people that the holidays can be as depressing as they are happy and this year I'm eating my words because I'm happy that it's the Bear Cub's First Christmas, but then I'm very depressed about my father!

This should be a happy time, but I just can't get into the whole thing and Christmas is now up in the air for us.

I'm the strong one in my family and I don't let them see me when I fall apart -- I do that when I'm by myself -- and it's been kind of hard trying to be strong for my mother and my sister and my father, when he's saying stupid things like 'so long' and 'I'm not going to be around'. I start yelling at him and I sound like a biotch, but he needs to start fighting and he just doesn't want to anymore. So then I get angry that he'll just give up that easily -- he has 2 beautiful grandchildren to see grow up, not to mention his wife, daughters and son-in-laws!

I just want to go to sleep and wake up and find it was all a bad dream. Either that or like I told JennRenee, I need a drink, a valium and a vacation, all in that order!

Thanks for listening. I'm probably going to try and leave work early today -- that's the other problem, I have no time left, so I'm stressing over that. And I'm also stressing over who's watching Gianna -- my mother hasn't been able to and my MIL, who I couldn't stop from coming in while I was home, isn't coming this week because of the weather!!! When I need her, she's not here, when I don't, she's up my butt! So Joe's grandmother has been watching the Cub -- hello, she's 86!!! Granted, a young/hip 86, but 86 nonetheless! She's really good with her and I think it's revived her because she's been taking care of her son, who at 54 has a rare form of alzheimer's! If it's not one thing, it's another....

Thanks again -- you gals are the bestest!!

You have my prayers!

I do understand and don't have time right now to go in to detail, but I did lose my father 3 years ago at the X-mas time. Feel free to FM me!

You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

One Day At a Time Deb
Focus on that adorable little one of yours.
She will give you the extra strenght you need right now. And it dosent matter if cards go out, gifts are bought and wrapped or if the house is clean. You can always do that stuff later.

Re: A favor

AWE, Deb! IM so sorry to see such a post from you

My happy thoughts and prayers are with your precious daddy. Bring him photos of his grandchildren to the hospital, make him a little collage or two, it will make you feel better doing it, and it will make his bedside cozy and comforting (not that we want him there long)

Please keep us posted

I really hope that your Dad gets the fight back in him. It is not an easy time for you. And maybe you or DH can pick your MIL up or drop the baby at her house- that might help relieve some of this stress.

Re: A favor -- UPDATED

I can't tell you how much all of your kind words and support meant to me this morning!!! I haven't had a chance to be on here, I'm swamped at work and it's taking me double time to do everything because my head is not here.

My father had 2 blood transfusions last night because his hemoglobin count was too low (that's nothing new, he's severally anemic). As for what's wrong with him, my father has a heart condition -- he went in w/congestive heart failure, which then turned into pneumonia. He also has angina, but that's not what the problem is this time -- he's been having irregular heartbeats and they need to regulate it by putting in a defibrilator -- as he says, the 'electrician' is going to do something! Anyway, they will be putting this thing in, but they can't do it until his infection is totally gone, so who knows how long he'll be in the hospital and when it will get done.

He also has spinal stinosis (sp?) and arthritis in his back, so the hospital bed doesn't help him any and is in pain w/that and now they're going to give him some therapy to see if it lessens his pain.

His mood still stinks and he's a big grouch (which is a good sign ), but he's still sounds horrible and not in a fighting mode. I can't blame him for being a bit depressed about the whole thing and being sick and tired of being in and out of the hospital (he was in there before I had the Cub and then again 2 weeks after I had her -- and it's the same hospital, so he should've just bunked w/me! Don't mind my sick sense of humor ).

As for pictures of his grandchildren -- Anna, we've brought them in and he looks at them and says 'that's nice' and then mumbles something about not being around or some such nonsense. I keep telling him that Nicholas and 'Gigi' need their Papa around to teach them 'bella manu' (this calabrese song thing -- it's kind of like patty cake), but he doesn't want to hear me anymore. He tells me I'm a pain in the a$$ like my mother! The nerve!

Thanks for the update. I can't speak for everyone, but I personally enjoy your sick sense of humor.

Lots of to your dad... we're all pulling for him!

And lots of to YOU... may you always keep your sense of humor. It will see you through many hard times with strength and grace.

Love you!
