What's your opinions on a wedding on Labor Day? The problem is we like the place, but once again don't meet the f%$king minimum for even a Sunday night. Pretty much the only way it could happen at all is if I do it on that day. I don't know people's attitudes towards that day. So I wanted some feedback.

Re: A Labor Day wedding...
I wouldnt care, but I am a teacher who gets vacation time alot. However, I have a friend in the 'corporate world' who gets really upset whe she has a wedding to go to on a holiday such as labor day, b/c she has limited days off during the year. Personally, I think she is being a tad bit dramatic about it. But people do think that way.

Re: A Labor Day wedding...
I had the same issues regarding setting my date. When I really thought about it, I realized that the people who really needed to be there would. Also, there are going to be no-shows at every wedding; you just can't please everybody!! On the flip side of things, if you have a good number of OOT guests it could be more benefical for them to travel on a holiday!!! Good luck with your decision!!!

Re: A Labor Day wedding...
I'll be honest - it depends - If I were close friends or family yes.. but if I dont get alot of vacation time and were planning on going away, I definitly wouldnt go. Esp. since Id be sitting in so much traffic!! lol
* edited to say - becareful people dont leave early in anticipation of traffic.. that would stink if you pay for 5 hours and people leave too soon!! *

Re: A Labor Day wedding...
I never thought about people without much vacation. Personally I don't know many people who go away for Labor Day, which is a reason I'm considering it. Seeing as it's 6pm-11pm I don't think it's too bad for people to go to work the next day. Then again, I'm a night guy.
I hate for people to think I'm doing it to be cheap, because that's not it AT ALL. It's the fact that we have 100 people. If I could meet the 150 I need for a Friday night, I would do it without a doubt.

I think it will be fine, just as long as you send save the dates in advance. People are going to do what they want no matter when you plan your weddings. Good luck.

As Mr. Hostility's FB I'd like to say all of this is getting me down. We still have yet to find that 'perfect' place. We both liked this place a lot, but like he stated, they will only work with our number of guests on an odd day.
Some people are like, 'Labor Day'? Well, excuse me. Last time I checked, Labor Day was not a major important holiday. Plus, I am only get married once in a lifetime. I think you could spare a little inconvenience if you really care about us! :-P

Re: A Labor Day wedding...
Hello Mr. H, we are also looking at a Monday holiday,Memorial Day...heres a suggestion we are looking into what they call a twilight. For a few $$ more but still less than a Friday or Saturday PM you have the place from say 4:30 on. Alot of places have offered that and then the guests are home early--and you have the whole place to yourselves. Especially great if ceremony at hall too. FM if you need more detail.

Those that care about you will come no matter what day you choose. I'd say, go for it.

Do it. My sister got married on July 4th and it didn't stop anyone from being there! A wedding is a fun way to spend a holiday.

Re: A Labor Day wedding...
I almost had my wedding on the monday of Labor day weekend too.... but we got sooo much grief from our families that we decided not too.... but we were going to do it to save money,,., since you are in a totally different position... I'd say GO FOR IT! Who ever wants to be there with you ,,,, willl.... and if they dont ....well, then SCREW THEM! Besides, there are only a few times in your life when its all about the 2 of You and what you want... if you want it... then my advice is go for it!!

I don't think its a big deal. I do work in the 'corporate world' and I do like to go away on Labor Day, but if someone I cared about was having a wedding, it wouldn't occur to me not to go and go on vacation instead. You may lose some of the obligatory invites (cousins, parent's friends), but send save the dates so no one double books, and watch. All the people you really care about will be there.

I voted 'Sure, why not, it's just another day'. I don't know anyone who travels Labor Day weekend...the people closest to you - the one's that mean the most - will be there for you no matter what day you choose.

I completely agree with you. Being a Labor Day weekend bride myself, I hate when people close to me bring up that it may 'ruin' a vacation or two!!! It does make it seem like an inconvenience and that bothers me!! Me personally, I would love to go to a wedding on Labor Day weekend, it would save me the hassle of trying to make plans!!!
