Re: A little personal

Noreen, how did everything go? I replied to your Provera thread on the NW board. I hope it was quick and painless. Now that I am PG, I think I see more of my ob/gyn than I do my DH at times

Re: A little personal UPDATE..IM BACK

I have been back but I was dealing and thinking about some things she told me.

First off..the exam itself was truly nothing! I loved Dr. Vo..so sweet and gentle..I felt nothing..I cant even say I felt pressure..she was terrific!!!!

Now onto the other stuff..
I have what they call a lazy ovary..which isnt that bad..she wants to put me on the pill to regulate me but I am not sure how I feel about that.

The bad thing though is that she found a lump in my breast now. She says its significant and has told me to schedule a breast sonogram. She said the wait is usually 4 weeks but to tell them that what she felt was significant and that Im only 27...that worried me a lot.

So now I have to go for blood work where they are going to check my estrogen levels and my thyroid.

Thank you for all the kind words..now onto something else.

I am glad that your normal examination didn't go bad. BUT I am sorry for what she found. Just try to get everything done so things don't get any worse. Please keep us updated and I will pray that everything goes well for you.

Re: A little personal

The same thing happened to me two years ago.. age 28... it turned out to be a mass of tissue.. nothing at all, but i was PANICED about it and cried for like 2 weeks..

There are places that you can go to that dont have that long of a wait..

did she tell you to have a breast sono or a mamogram? I had the breast sono since i was so young.

If Dr. Bush is her married name, she is even more crazy! Who would take your husbands name if it were BUSH no matter what the job, no less a gyno?? Zoinks!

Nyc: Thank god you went to the gyno when you did!

My doctor does not do 2 internals a year..just one. I have to call in at 6 months for a new prescript.

NYChic same thing happened to me in my 20's, it usually is a cyst or tissue mass.

Im so glad you went.

Re: A little personal

Glad to hear that your regular exam went well - no more nerves for next time. don't panic about the lump. I had one myself. She told me to come back in 3 months to see if it had disinigrated. It didn't. She had me make an appointment for a sonogram. I couldn't get the appointment for another month. When I went in, I had TWO technicians working on me because they didn't find anything. Went back to gyno and she didn't find it again. It took about 4 months but it finally disinegrated. My friend is prone to breast cysts. since you've never been to a gyno, you might also be so don't panic until they've done the test.

Also, having a lazy ovary is not dangerous, however, you may have a harder time conceiving a baby in the future. Don't be nervous about the pill. I've been on it for 10 years (a number of different varieties) with minimal side effects. They actually say that the pill actually helps minimize your chances of getting some types of cancer. Medicine has come a LONG way over the years and many of the birth control methods are safe and effective. If you're still skeptical, you can always get a second opinion.

Good luck to you

Noreen . Don't worry too much about the lump just yet. I have had a large tissue mass in one breast for about 15 years. It hasn't grown or moved or changed. It just sort of sits there. It's not dangerous nor anything for me to worry about. I will keep my fingers crossed that everything will be fine for you.

Noreen I'm glad it went well for you in terms of comfort. Sorry about the breast lump , I will say a prayer for you. WHat exactly is a 'lazy ovary'?

I am glad you went - see it was not that bad!

Hopefully the lump will not be anything more than a cyst. I will keep you in my thoughts though!

Youll be fine, when I go and he does the exam, I focus on something in the wall and tune his ass out

Wacky, this cracked me up!!!

I do the same thing! I was so nervous the first time, now it's no big deal!

Good luck!

OOPS didn't see that you went already! Glad it went ok and sorry to hear about the lump. Just do what the DR says, better safe then sorry. My biggest fear is a lump. I ALWAYS think I feel lumps and go have my boobies checked 2-3 times a year to be safe!

It really works October. You have to find something on the wall.

Sometimes I think about does he ever get sick at looking at all these tacos. I bet he has some good tricks up his sleeve for his wife

Re: A little personal

The lump is probably nothing. I had one in my left which we removed and now have 3 in the right! I'm having them removed in January. Some women our age get them. If they grow or are over 2mm than they are supposed to be removed. FM me if you have any questions!!!!!!!

Noreen... I am sure everything will be ok. I am glad you went when you did.

Now onto the rest of you. I was cracking up reading these past few pages.

Whenever I go, I always way myself real quick before they weigh me because they never tell you your weight.

The actual waiting time is worse than the exam. That goes super fast. My blood pressure was super high because I was so nervous. They took it 3 times. Then I had to go back the next day to get it checked again. But the next time I went it, it was fine.

I was a late bloomer for the gyno but then made the choice to go. It's just getting through the door the first time.
