A Midsummer Night's Gathering in Western Nassau - POLL CLOSED!

A Midsummer Night's Gathering in Western Nassau - POLL CLOSED!

I would love to have my fellow 06er's (including honorary 06er's) over for a late afternoon into evening (or all hours of the night) gab and food fest. July seems to be out for me due to mini-vacations and other sorts of family obligations. Ed and I are working on our 'deck' area and it should be ready to be used in about a week - complete with a grill, astro turf and a really cheap patio set. What more could you want? It is a renter's paradise!

Sooooooooooo, I offer the following two Saturday evenings for you in August.

Saturday, August 11 or

Saturday, August 18

Once there is a decent amount of responses, Ill close the poll and start taking a head count.

UPDATE - POLL CLOSED THE 11th IT IS!!!

Ok ladies, it has been over a week and it looks like the 11th has won out despite my paranoia about the voting being skewed. It looks like a bunch of the guys are ITCHING to come because of their passion for this thing we call LIW (see pin)

I wish I could!!!! Astro turf is my favorite!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But I'm not sure when the baby elephant is coming. But wait! Isn't astroturf non-slip?!?! The baby would be comfy if he came out on that. Hmmmm.

We're still trying to figure out when we can go away and when our friend can rent us a room on Fire Island. We only have one weekend locked in so far. Right now those weekends are good, but I am eager to get away if I can.

Is this a girls night only?

I was actually wondering what you ladies thought about bringing men. It is entirely possible we may have a large screen by then, though the way we are moving, you never know.

All offspring - elepahnt or human - are invited. My fish Bleu will be there - not grilled though. Oh and Kelly, I live around the corner from LIJ - less than 2 miles.

I'd lean toward inviting men but for selfish reasons. 1. I have not been driving for any significant distances because of my sudden onset shortness of breath thing (I think I need a better name for it). I can only hope it is resolved by then. 2. the LIW guys that Scott has met, he never gets a chance to see, plus there are some DHs he has never met and I want him to know more of the ladies, too.

Reasons not to have guys: 1. it does double the size of a party, which isn't totally fair if someone is hosting at their home 2. the majority of men in this group don't want us to make fun of republicans 3. we can't talk about my favorite subject, the penis, as much.

I choose August 11 b/c Bob won't be around much that weekend and the following weekend I believe we just got invited to a wedding.

And as always, I'm willing to carpool with anyone from Suffolk.

1)There is a pool hall (Darlene can correct my choice of terminology) around the corner if the guys cannot handle it. I have plenty of space inside too.

2) I will be more than happy to supply this shirt to all DEMS in the house:

3) And perhaps THESE for the fellows:

Depending on the number of people, I may just ask people to bring some folding chairs.

Leslie I'm up for either Saturday, with or without DH (although I do know he'd love to see you & Ed).

I wish we could attend! We'll be away both of those weekends... actually we're returning sometime on 8/18. If if it 8/18 and I can go, I can always bring John along so he and Ed could escape from us.

11th is good for me I have to check with the hubby, I'll go regardless, with or without the big guy!

I guess I'll wait a week or two to see how the poll goes. It is still pretty early to make a final call.

I'm getting the feeling that people wanna rescue Ed. I assure you that I am VERY good to him! Though he did drop the cheap-a$$ patio set on his toe and it looks pretty bad. My PVC nurse's uniform was just too darn sticky to wear last night otherwise I may have tried to make him feel better in a 'special' way.

I might just wait until the day of, if that's okay. Mike and I are Republicans, so don't hurt us.

I am pretty sure I could do either of those dates.

I would expect nothing less!!

The 11th looks better for me!!! Betsy, you know I'll join in your Suffolk car pool!!

We were actually thinking of doing a co-ed GTG at our house one weekend as well.

Ok so how is this...DH's are welcome. They can carry the chairs. If they dont like the girly girl talk, they can go somewhere else. OR they can strip.
