I need a goooooood vent

So here's mine:

2 year engagement ?! Wow, that's long
Are you offering to contribute $ so I can move it up?

Black bm dresses?! Why dont you do a color? weird look
My wedding, my choice - do I criticize you on your tacky attire?

(my fmil to my fh - of course, I wasnt there)
Dont embarrass me w/ this wedding (after he told her how our place is modern, ch on roof, 2 dinner choices only)

I dont think it's right to do donations as favors - if ppl want to donate, they'll do it on their own - when ppl go to a wedding, they want to get something
HELLO it is 2007 and umm, half the stuff I get at weddings I throw out or collects dust & plus I'm doing it in memory of family members

I got the donation comment as well- I gave in and gave Two Peas in a Pod salt and pepper shakers too (which are probally collecting dust)!

I actaully got the black BM dress in the summer comment- but with the really bright flowers that popped it looked GREAT!

And I got coments about my engagment being too short (just under 9 months)-- HELLO- we were together for 6 years!!

I think I got the ultimate comment...

originally we were going to have the ceremony in the RH and were told...

You really should get married in a Church, on sacred ground. You don't want to get married with evil all around you. ~FMIL

Ugh!!

We ended up changing our minds for our own reasons (want to enjoy our cocktail hour, don't want to chance it if it rain b/c I don't really care for the indoor chapel at the RH).

My sister is obsessed with the size of our guest list, and keeps making snide comments to FH about it.
Hello dear sis - you are not paying for my wedding. Can't help it if you only had 92 guests at yours.

One of my bus buddies actually told me to take FFIL to the barber so that the barber can shave off the man's beard and handlebar mustache.
Hello - that's none of my business and she's never even met my FFIL, only seen pictures of him. (By the way, he does look like the mayor of Munchkinland, but still, it is NONE OF HER BIZ)

I have also received comments on black BM dresses and donation favors.

My father has been taking the cake. He's stuck in 1940 and thinks now that I'm getting married I should be in the kitchen. Just a few:

After a night out with my friends - 'You're not the marrying kind.'

Shortly before my bachelorette, FH's bachelor party - 'You should get home early and cook him a nice dinner.'

'When I was your age, girls didn't drink beer.'

There have been plenty of other comments around cooking FH a nice dinner, cleaning the house. Sorry, I work 10 hours a day too and just planned an entire wedding on my own ... oh wait, FH did MAYBE 5%. And that's being gracious.

Oh, and FMIL's friend after my honeymoon was booked 'How long are you staying in Venice?' Me 'two days.' Her - 'OH, that's not enough at all.' Thanks - nothing I can do about it now!

My Aunt: 'Why don't you get Silk Centerpieces so your cousins can reuse them when they get married?

FMIL: Why don't you pick an upbeat wedding song so you two can do a routine and he can lift you in the air?

My other aunt: You really need to start taking care of your eye brows now that you're getting married....

Co-worker: It is really inconvenient that you're having your wedding so close to the holidays, people will be really poor. (this guy isn't even invited!)

This is a great place to vent, I love it!!!! Sorry girls, but my venting is different. I'm having an indian wedding and I gotta tell everyone the whole story around it because people have seen them or been to them and keep asking me if i'm doing this and that.....starts to get annoying, still excited though!!!

But if you don't marry in a church....who will bless your marriage??!?!?!

that was from my cousin -- when i said our family and friends are the blessing, she said 'well you're young, maybe you'll do it RIGHT later on' eat shiiit biitch

a friend of mine whose wedding was f**king ghetto (the BP including him, who was the groom, got high with their photographer) had the balls to tell me that his steak wasn't 'that good and fatty' um don't get me started on YOUR wedding you piece of trash.

my sister - 'Ewww you want pink and brown dresses BM dresses?? Pink is too girlie and brown is too gross..'

Finally I told her it's MY wedding.. and when she gets married she can do whatever color she wants.... she finally gave up and accepted the colors...


FH aunt - 'you guy are engaged?? it's really bad timing. you dont have steady jobs or a lot of money. Good thing it's not any time soon'
w.t.f.. i didnt ask her for money or her blessin to get married...

I thought that was implied when I said my FH asked me to marry him.

my aunt: your putting the MOH in a different dress? i thought they all wear the same one but different colors...(her daughter-my first cousin is one of the BM)

my response: umm, no it could be a different dress in the same color.

BM to me : 'You're going to tan before your wedding, right? Because I definitely am and I wouldn't want you to look pasty next to me'
