I will admit that I've been a bit out of the loop being on vacation and all and I didn't see that last 2 debates other than the sound bites. So, I'm not as 'informed' as I should be at this point, but I'm noticing something interesting.
First, I know that you have to take polls with a grain of salt, but I was seeing that in about 4 different polls recently conducted (ABC, TIME Magazine), it had Bush being ahead, sometimes by 2%, sometimes by 5%, but he was ahead each time.
Also, ABC was estimating that Bush currently has 213 electoral votes, while Kerry has 207. 118 are still up for grabs, with Florida having the most votes out of that 118.
And that Republican documentary attacking Kerry will be coming out soon
And people are still sore at Kerry for calling out Cheney's daughter
And yes, I'll admit, the President's brother is governor of Florida.
All this being said, if it's all true, I think Bush is going to get in again.
How do you all read it?

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
I think this election is ALL about smokescreens. Maybe all elections are. The campaigns each pick on some BS about the other candidate because there's no substance ot heir own candidacy or there are holes in their records. I think this applies to both sides to some degree, but I think the republicans ahve been esp nitpicky. I actually cringe more when Shrub uses words like 'wadn't' and 'missourah'..and I can't BELIEVE this is the President of the United States we're talking about here. I absoluetely ABHOR the Shrub, but I also wish Kerry would stand up even more to all of the BS. I think he did a great job of that at the debates.

Posted by Sassyz75 There is no way that there can be a fair election in Florida- it is completely biased.
Here we go again.
Anyways... today's USA Today's front page says Bush is ahead by EIGHT POINTS. I was even shocked to see that. Maybe Kerry did shoot himself in the foot with that lesbian comment.
It says that it seems Kerry has only won over two swing states (Washington State and Maine)... where Bush has Arizona, Missouri, Arkansas, and West Virginia.
The states still up for grabs include Florida, Oregon, Nevada, New Mexico, Colorado, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Vermont.

Well we all know who I want to win but I don't think he is going to.
When I was in Florida (south Florida) Saw more kerry things then I did for bush I was suprised.
I am a supporter for gay marriage and think that church adn state should be seperated. i don't really see what was so horrible about talking about cheneys daughter. She is openly gay.

polls are all over the place - Washington Post has Kerry up 10 points in 13 battleground states.
Bush has basically pulled out of Oregon, VT, MN - conceding them to Kerry.
Kerry is leading in PA, WI, NV, MI
Bush is leading in OH, NM, CO
Iowa and Florida are supposedly tied.

And speaking of links... I have a few of my own actually.
This is very far from Kerry leading by 10 points... Bush by 4, according to this one.

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
basically, judging from the 2000 election when there were voting problems, the people overseeing the vote count were all big-wigs of the Republican party- Kathleen Harris was the chair of Bush's Florida re-election campaign. So nothing has changed here- especially w. Jeb in office he has no incentive to make it 'fair' as the bias favors his brother/family .
It is completely suspect to me.. and I can't believe it isn't suspect to anyone else.

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
the washington post mention with kerry having a lead was not a national poll - it was looking at specific swing states (WI, CO, PA, etc). The article was mentioned on either cnn.com or msn.com (i honestly can't remember cause i was reading both last night - am looking for the link now). The point of the article was that dems weren't panicking about bush getting a lead cause electorally they thought they were ok. The article online said that the poll was a bit of an aberration cause it gave Kerry a pronounced lead.
polls are changing every day - didnt mean to anger anyone about the Washington post.

Re: A nice debate for a Monday morning
I have to say this one more time. The polls are TOTALLY off because there are more than enough new voers (not counted in most polls) to swing ANY state. So i totally dismiss the polls.

God help us if Bush gets another 4 years because then he wont give a s*%t what he does!! It's not like he will have to go through another election in 4 years and validate what he does.

If he does win Social Security will surely be privatized, I wouldn't count out a draft either, and Roe V. Wade will be overturned...

And if Kerry gets in - everyone's taxes will surely be raised...and the stock market will probably tank for awhile.

as far as I am concerned- the stock market/job market hasn't sufficiently come up to 'tank'
Don- you're fine with a draft? Maybe that's because you're too old to be drafted?
Edited to say- after thinking about it- even if the stock market does tank- I'd take less money then lose my reproductive rights and send my little brother possibly to his death via a draft...
