A thread just for PlusSize Brides

Original post by aimerliny

I thought it might be good to start our own thread. We're all in the same boat, and we can help each other find things we need, vent about issues, support each other's diets.

Anyone interested?

Melissa I am really sorry that those things happened to you. It would bother me also some of things they did. It seems to me like they were looking at the wedding as an inconvenience rather then a blessing. I would try to move on from it. If you would feel better about it, then talk to them...but if it is going to make the situation worse, then just try to move past it on your own. You have a new life, with your new husband and a baby on the way. Embrace that and enjoy that. for all your troubles.

Melissa I am so sorry you had to go through that on your wedding day!! and leading up to your wedding day!!

People.. esp. your family should have been going out of their way to make your life easier.. not just b/c you were the bride and it was your big day but b/c you are pregnant!!!
I am sorry but your sister seems like a very jealous and selfish person.
And that was wrong of your parents to spring that to you last minute in the middle of your cocktail hour!!!!!! If they just didn't have the money.. then they knew about it well before that day and could have told you alot sooner.

I think your sister sounds like a miserable person and misery loves company..

Melissa I am so sorry that your family treated your wedding the way that they did and I don't think you are wrong for feeling hurt. I would probably not say anything and just try to focus on your new life with your husband and the baby that you are expecting.

Melissa,
OMG I am so sorry for your wedding blues. Sounds like you are justified to feel that way. I would have given everyone a piece of my mind. Some families are selfish...I have a few in my family like that too. I am so sorry for the insensitive ways of your sisters (sounds like you are Cinderella and they are the bad sisters) and parents most of all to act like that. You have ever right to be mad, hurt, upset but in the end where is it going to get you...my motto is forgive but not forget.
Bottom line they are your family. I would be so hurt for ruining so many things for you but I guess we are stuck what we are stuck with...I wish you all the best for a wonderful, loving future with your new family and to try and forgive your families inconsiderate and overall rude manners.
Best of luck!!!

Melissa

I don't think you are overreacting at all. Yes, a wedding is about a bride and a groom, but it is also about family and celebration. It sounds like your family robbed you of that part of the experience. Hats off to you that you could stay positive and enjoy your wedding as you should. But from what you have said, members of your family sounds very insensitive, self-centered and downright mean-spirited.

If it were me, I'd confront each person and tell them how you feel. But to do that, you need to accept the fact that it could make the situation worse than it is.

You have a loving husband and are about to embark on new, wonderful experiences when you have your baby. And you have beautiful memories from your wedding. All of these wonderful things to look forward to. You need to put your families actions and incosiderations behind you either by confronting them or ignoring them. Do what is right for you.

Good luck!
Amy

PS You can always vent to us....we're a tight group on this thread!

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

Thank you to everyone who responded to my post about my family and all the things that happened leading up to and on my wedding.

I spoke with my youngest sister even more yesterday about it. She felt really bad about everything, said she didn't even realize things were going on that hurt me. She's convinced that my parents just overlooked things and that's how the money and not being allowed to go to the house thing happened. I know I can still talk to them about it, I just don't know if I am ready for that yet.

My biggest thing is with my oldest sister. The hardest part about it is that I had asked her way back in Feb. when I found out I was pregnant to be my baby's godmother. Now after everything htat happened with the wedding, and with the way she's treated me, I feel like that was a mistake. I don't know if she'll even be there for me and the baby if we needed her to be, and it does seem like she has a lot of jealous/mean spirited feelings and I don't know if I want that around my child. So I'm torn as to what to do in that situation.

Hopefully eventually she and I can get together and talk it all out. I feel like if I talk to her about it now, it would just get nasty and ugly becuase I'm still very upset about it. But the baby is due in early October so I know I can't wait too long.

Thank you so much to everyone for your words and advice....and reassurement.

-Melissa
