I thought it might be good to start our own thread. We're all in the same boat, and we can help each other find things we need, vent about issues, support each other's diets.
Anyone interested?

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
It's definately possible to have sleeves put on a dress. I would suggest looking at Jasmine dresses - I work Jasmine and the dress was originally strapless. I absolutely loved the dress and knew immediately it was THE ONE, however I was uncomfortable with it being strapless and knew I wanted sweetheart neckline with halter straps and Jasmine redesinged the dress for me the way I wanted. Definately worth checking out. And also, they are not that expensive.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
I ordered my dress today!!! I went through Phyliss at Gownfind. I was so excited. When I tried on dresses at the bridal salon I tried on a size 20 and the woman said it was a size or two too small...I would need a 22 or 24. Well I've been trying so hard since Aug to lose weight and I got measured today and I'm between a 16/18. YAY!!! Must keep losing.

Just FYI, there is another web forum called Ultimatewedding.com, and there are lots of ideas and pictures there. There is also a plus size thread. Just thought I'd let everyone know, just another place for ideas and stuff.

Ladies I will have to start looking soon for dresses. This I am not excited about. I have recently lost 40 lbs and continuing to lose more. But I still don't feel ready to look. I am getting married in December and must have a dress with sleeves (either long or 3/4 length) but there are none out there. Is it possible that I could have sleeves put on to any dress? Of course at a price but if this was possible I would feel a lot better about looking for dresses. Anyone have any insight?
When I was looking for dresses I seen some really cute ones with sleeves that I tried on but for a summer wedding it was something that I didn't want to deal with, but anyway here is one of the ones that I seen and it is very flattering on... Alfred Angelo Style #1602
and these are some of the other ones that I seen that have a jacket over the dress
Alfred Angelo Style #1953
Alfred Angelo Style #1755
***And as a side note, Alfred Angelo doesn't charge extra for plus size gowns anymore, everything in one price regardless of size***

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
After a snag with my dress last week (the company discontinued it a couple months ago and I was never told and had to find a new dress to match everything that I already done) I finally found a replacement dress and although it is all white, no color, I can say that I am extremely happy and that I like this one better than my original dress, it is super sparkly and I love it!!!!
The new dress Alfred Angelo Style #1822 and got a great bargain...one shop quoted me $625 for the dress and I ended up getting it for $480 at another!!!

If you go on Venus' website, they have a store locator. Which dress are you looking at? I wore a Venus dress and I got so many compliments on it!

Lane Bryant has a Bridal Boutique now. Or maybe you knew that already, but I didn't - so here you go.
This was my dress too! You'll love it. It is so comfortable and beautiful! I wore it sleeveless.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
I was at Angel Bridals in East Islip browsing for dresses. They had a very nice and not frumpy line of plus size dresses from 16-28. About 20 or more to choose from.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
i'm plus size but i wont be for my wedding. i gained 60 pounds since i've been with fh (we've been together for 4 years) so i plan on losing it all. im on nutrisystem which works great, i just havent been 100% so i've been up and down. eep! i think i tried on dresses like a 14 or a 16. im having trouble because i wanna really go look for dresses but i dont wanna have to look for plus size dresses and only opt for those. because they have a million more different designs for not plus size gowns. what do i do?

I went to Lillettes in Baldwin to try on dresses. I only tried on plus size dresses but I believe almost all the dresses could be ordered in regular sizes. So you could try on stuff now and when you lose the weight order it in a regular size. Also some store have 12s that you can try on but it will not close in the back. They'll have to clip it, but you can get an idea of how it would look. HTH
