Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

hey ladies--wanted to get this thread up again.

after finding my dress at Bridal Suite of Bay Shore--i wanted to recommend their sales staff to any plus sized brides! they treated me so nicely and didn't make me feel like a whale. (i'm 5'1' and usually about an 18/20) they had a good amount of dresses there that i was able to put on--and they helped with clips and such to give me an idea of how the dress would fit in my size.

btw--check out Mon Cheri as a dress, as I discovered that they offer plus sizes up to 28W!! (that is the designer of my dress)

Mon Cheri Bridals

while all their models on the site are regular size--remember that their dresses can be made for us big girls! LOL ironically enough the dress i selected, is something i would NEVER consider if i just looked at the picture online! (on page 3 of 4 under bridal collections, 3rd row down, 2nd dress. style 15320)

I have an appointment at Bridal Suite next Wednesday. It's great to hear that you had such a good experience there. I hate going to these places and be made to feel like I'm not worthy of a gorgeous wedding gown because I'm plus size.

I went to Georgettes in Hicksville and was able to get a bra in a size 42F. They were very nice there.

Remember.....

I ordered my dress at FLowerama in Glendale and it was a 'regular' size....so if you dont find anything you like in the plus sized lines, remember you can just order something you like in your size. You can pretty much see what it will look like on you even though you wont be able to button up the back!

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

Ladies,

My thights are always rubbing together and get chafed as well. But I found a cure! I use this stuff that I get thru the party plan I consult for (it's paying for the wedding!). It's a lotion which dries to a baby powder consistency. I'm sure if my company carries it, then you brides can find it out on the market somewhere! I love it. It doesn't get all over you or your clothes like baby powder, and stays on all day!

Or have you thought about geting a pretty silky/lacey undershort? It will keep your thighs for chafing as well.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

OK Ladies,

I've got a question for you. I'm going NUTS trying to find BM dresses! All of my girls are plus size (except for 2) PLUS, they've got DD's! I have not found a bridal shop which carries plus sized bridesmaid dress samples that they can try on.
I want my girls to look their best, but I can't find dresses that fit them, so I can get an idea of what dress is best! Does anyone know of a Bridal shop that carries plus sized bridesmaid dresses?
HELP!

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

Try David's Bridals. My BF is plus sized and she looked great in her dress (we got them at Macy's Bridal Salon).

I'm a plus sized girl too, and when I was in my sister's wedding a few years ago, I found my dress at the bridal building in the city. (just don't recall the name). I'm also a DD girl! Here's a pic of me in my sister's wedding:

Very nice FallBride! I checked Davids, but they only had 1 dress I liked. Can you think of anywhere else?

For both weddings (mine and my sisters) I really only ended up hitting one store. Some of the smaller bridal shops do have larger sizes to try on, not just the sample sizes. The bridal shop where I bought my wedding dress and quite a few dresses (reallly nice ones too) in plus size sizes. That's what I liked about the place (it's in NJ, so if you're interested, let me know and I'll tell you the name)

I think usually the two piece dresses work the best for plus sized ladies (my opinion!). Even with DD's strapless can work. Plus Sized girls can wear alot of the same styles as non plus size. I think though that something with an A-Line skirt is probably most flattering.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

My girls ordered their ( 2 of my BM are plus sized) from Flowerama in Glendale as well. We got Alfred Angelo seperates so they were able to choose the top and bottoms that were most flattering for them. See my profile pic for details.
