I am no longer plus size-just lost 63 lbs and have 15 months to lose the rest before my wedding. HOWEVER, as someone who had to pay $75 more for her bridemaid's dress at her brother's wedding, I know how you guys feel. The cost of the fabric per yard, wholesale, is minimal for the extra few inches of fabric they need to make a larger size. The amount they charge is rediculous and really just a way for them to take advantage. I loved my Vera Wang dress but it always left a bad taste in my mouth that Vera Wang, a WOMAN, would support charging extra for a larger size.

Just wanted to pass this along... About a month or so ago, I starting taking a multi-vitamin every morning. I also am being more conscious of what I eat. I'm losing weight. Perhaps it has something to do with the multi-vitamins too? I saw a few articles on the internet on this.

thanks!! we had an awesome day! i have to say that i was so obsessed with all issues about being plus sized before the wedding (my arms are too fat, my boobs are too big, my face is too round, etc, etc) and on the day of the wedding, i didn't think about ANY of that! you'll be amazed at how great you feel and how little you think about your body! :) i think that's why our pictures came out decent--because we were both truly happy to be there in the moment.
i just looked in your album and you are beautiful (so are your kids) so i'm SURE you are going to have an amazing day as well! your hair trial looked fantastic!!!!

HELLO!!! size 18 sometimes 20 here!!! and i lost 81 lbs... and still plus size... flabby arms and all but I am proud of my weight loss so far!!!

Just wondering where everyone has gone dress shopping. Will probably not go til this time next year, but I'd like to get my research done. Have heard a lot of horror stories on here regarding Paradise Bridal in Patchogue so I'm definitely leery of going there. Any other suggestions?

I'm scared as well. Taking this next year to really work on toning up and losing some inches. I'd like to go down 4 to 6 dress sizes so I feel more comfortable shopping. Just need to find the motivation

I went to Fantasia Bridal in Rocky Point - they had a nice selection of dresses in at least size 18. I also liked the personalized service in that my attendent picked out dresses that she knew would flatter my figure (i.e. make me look skinnier ). Of course they were dresses I would have never dreamed of trying on but the ones I tried on at David's I picked out because I thought they would good on me and they made me look like a small oil tanker.
Unfortunately, David's Bridals has a HUGE selection although their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. They just gave me the dresses I asked for and when they didn't work out they picked dresses for me but based on what I asked for - not what they thought would complement my figure. What you could do is just go there to try on a bunch of dresses (take pics!) and you'll either a) find something you like and get it from there or b) if you're not having a good vibe customer service wise, take the pics to another salon and have them work with those to find you a good dress. But definitely try a bunch - especially ones you think won't look good on you - you'll be pleasantly surprised!
