I thought it might be good to start our own thread. We're all in the same boat, and we can help each other find things we need, vent about issues, support each other's diets.
Anyone interested?

Hi everyone, I'm a size 14 i know im not plus size but trust me i feel your woes. People ask me oh have you tried dresses on yet and i just say no if they only knew that i was scared to death to try dresses on and feel bad when the dress i want fits horribly. I'm on WW and haven't lost much. I recently bought Alli and im going to start taking it this Friday because some of the effects are bad, like you have to run to the bathroom lol. I know RK bridal in Manhattan has alot of gorgeous dresses and i believe they have all sizes and also i believe 1385 Broadway The Bridal buidling is filled with bridal stores so i'll probably go there to find my dress. I hate these magazines that show these teeny tiny girls they need to have more full figured woman to show how Real women look....ugh!!!
Hi I feel simiar to you. I am a sz 14 or 16 and am petite(4'11). I hope you all wotnt mind if I join the group... I have been on a mission to loose some weight... having a real hard time and having major doubts about my gown-- that is how I look in it.
I have some health issues and recently diagnosed withsomething that makes it very hard to loose weight if at all.... so....Hi.....

lol....we def do have time.
do you guys know if Maggie Sottero Dresses come in plus? i love so many of her dresses
Yes, mine was a Maggie Sottero dress (Grace Kelly) and I am a plus size. You may not find too many plus size sample dresses to try on, but you can buy them in a plus size. I tried on a size 12 at Bridal Suite in Bay Shore even though I'm definitely not a 12. It had a corset back, so I was able to get it on and see what it would look like.
thats what i hate i want to be able to try my dess on in my size!!

Yeah, it would be nice to try them on in our own size. It's really hard to tell how it's going to look if you have clips and everything else holding the dress together.
I'm in love with the Grace Kelly dress. That's #1 on my list. hoping to find a bridal store that carries it in plus size.

It's funny you say that cause i was thinking that the other day while reading modern bride. For me, a lot of that is not my reality. I did see one plus size dress add.....but the model was far from plus size if you ask me.
There's your million dollar idea

If you can go to Bridal Suite in Bay Shore and see if they still have the 12. They were able to get it on me with a longline bra, it just didn't lace in the middle. My actual dress was ordered in a 24 I think, so it's not impossible to get in it. The place I ended up ordering my dress from got a sample in after I ordered mine and it came in as a size 2. Maggie's run quite small, too I think...who would fit in that? I would never have even looked at it if that was the only sample size around.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
It's so sad that it's assumed everyone is stick figured. This is the most amazing day of our lives and here most of us are fearing something that should be a wonderful experience. it's really sad.
i heard a lot of people say that paradise bridal in patchogue has a lot of plus size samples but that their customer service is lacking. torn about going there.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
Bridal Suite in Huntington seemed to have alot of plus sizes (I tried on quite a few Alfred Angelo gowns there) and the people are great.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
Bridal Suite. Ok, will add that to my list. Thank you. It's always good to know where to go for good service when you are plus size. Biggest fear is to go into a place and feel embarrassed or made to feel like I was put on display.

It really is sad, that's why i don't even bothering looking at bridal magazines because they make everyone look extremely tall and skinny as a rail. Most women are full figured not skinny minnies. It's also ridiculous that bridal sizes run so small that makes you feel even more self conscious.

Lynbrook Bridal has a large plus selection. It's where I tried dresses on and purchased.
