Hi Laurie! I love the neckline on your dress. That's so sexy and romantic. Our weddings aren't too far from each other. Since your wedding date is Halloween, are you doing any kind of theme?

A few small Halloween things.
I'm asking people to wear costumes (if they want - 'requested by not required').
I had 2 pumpkins carved by an artist out in
CA that I will use for decorating at the hall.
Masterpiece Pumpkins
My CP might be Cornucopias (still waiting for a price on that)
The favors will be 4oz tins of Mulling Spices (can be used for wine or apple cider)
The table #/names will be 5x7 frames with movie posters from scary movies.
I 'MAY' make the inner envelope for my invites black. (that's a real big MAYBE!)

So far that's it.

belleboyd I LOVE your dress!!!!

Thanks!!!

FH is a big 40s-50's fashion nut. 'when girls looked like girls' he says. So I thought that off the shoulder thing would be right up his alley. I am still trying to decide what kind of necklace to wear. Maybe a choker??
Hmmm....

What's yours like?

A chocker would be beautiful with that dress.

Nice call Christine!

What's on everyone's agendas this week for wedding planning?

Only 3 things:
1) Order the invitations.

2) Confirm the honeymoon. Where ever it ends up being!! (Puerto Rico w/ cruise to Dom. Rep. I think). I did book the hotel for the wedding night just a little while ago though!

3) Buy the d*&n rings already. That has been the MOST painful part of this whole process! We could never find something we both liked and then when we did - he doesn't know his ring size and keeps 'forgetting' to stop at a jewler and get measured! ACH!

Sorry for the vent. I got carried away there!

Uloveit22 - I LOVE your dress!!!!! Why cant I find something like that!?!?!

I just found that one on line last week...for months I have been browsing through magazines and I see nothing that is 'me.' I saw this one and fell in love...whether or not they will have it when I go or whether it will even look good on me is another story...but it is so pretty to look at!

Good luck!

I have yet to try on dresses... when you went to shops that didn't have plus sizes to try on- how bad was it to fit into the samples, and get an idea of how it would fit??

I am about an 18-20...

Im about the same size and I put off trying on dresses for so long cause I was afraid I wasn't going to be able to try on dresses...but I had great experiences. They really work with you. Most dresses I tired on I could get a good appreciation for. I ran into a problem because I wanted a dress with sleeves and many of the smaller samples wouldn't go over my arms. But, if you are trying on sleevless or strapless you shouldn't have any problems.

I want sleeves too As long as I can get some kind of idea I should be okay... I think I am going to try Davids Bridal first just to get an idea of the styles I like...

Did you find a dress with sleeves? Do you have a pic??

Don't worry you will be fine!!!! I found the best selection at Lillets but I ended up getting my dress at bridal suite in centerreach. Mine is a Justine Alexander...but Poloma Blanca Diva collection had some really nice dresses too. I'll post a picture.

It looks very pretty!! Is Lillettes the one in Baldwin? My mom wants to go there... the brand I seem to like, Eden Bridal, is only sold at the Bridal Plaza in Baldwin... so maybe we'll hit em in the same day...

Thanks for your help :)

My aunt bought me one when I got engaged, and I wore it fits slightly above the knee. Like you guys said, no one will see it.

Amy, your dress is so romantic. Are you doing a whole theme too?

ok i am a bit confused - are you referring to me ? or someone else - i get so use to being oakslady sometimes i forget some folks call me by my real name --

Yes you! I think you and I are the only Amy's on this thread. =)

Kel - your dress is gorgeous! The material looks so soft!

Nutty -- I mostly tried on bigger size samples -- and I tried on over 50 gowns all together between several stores. They are out there, you just have to do some research. We've posted a lot of the better stores that have a wider selection for plus size brides. Review this thread! Good luck!!

I'd like to try on bigger dresses... but the one brand I like a lot of gowns is only carried in one store on the Island... and I have NO idea what sizes they will be! I am SO picky!

Try calling them. Most places are very helpful on the phone.

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

I will... I definetly want to go there anyway though cuz I love the dresses they have... and they carry a modesty cut!

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

I know you can try on dresses that will fit if you are looking at a plus-size line of dresses, but if you want to look at a regular dress and order it in a bigger size, its hard to get a clear picture of what the dress will look like on you. It really frustrates me - I am going to order one and hope for the best!

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides

The sample of my dress was a size 8....talk about really having to use your imagination. I also just ordered it and hoped for the best. Its in and I went to try it on. I think Its going to look great when all the alterations are done...and hopefully I'll drop some weight.

Hi Ladies, glad to see this thread is back.
Everyone's dress is so pretty ---- ahhh to wear white again! lol..
32 days left for me. Sending out B listers today -- I don't have to have the count until a week before and we are having a buffet so there is no rush really.
I ran into an old HS friend at the vineyard while I was meeting with the coordinator, and she is getting married there in Oct. What a small world... Fuuny thing it is someone I actually LIKED.
Well I am so busy these days I barely get to check in, but just wanted to say Hola!!!
