I thought it might be good to start our own thread. We're all in the same boat, and we can help each other find things we need, vent about issues, support each other's diets.
Anyone interested?

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
Kara, how many people do you expect to have at your wedding?
It is a small world. ALthough I usually run into people I don't particularly care for.

The sample of my dress was a size 8....talk about really having to use your imagination. I also just ordered it and hoped for the best. Its in and I went to try it on. I think Its going to look great when all the alterations are done...and hopefully I'll drop some weight.
I am not looking forward to this!! Why dont these people carry bigger sizes? It's easier to pull it in on skinny people than let it out on fat people

Nutty I totally agree with you!! I would just stick to the places that carry larger sizes. I just threw out my old gown, I should have saved it and sold it, huh? It was beautiful and a size 16 (18?).
Amy I expect about 80 or so -- hopefully the B-listers won't make it. They all live in Jersey and the wedding is a Sunday night. But they are all Fi's previous co-workers and we jst saw them all 2 weeks ago at another wedding, so I think he felt obligated to invite them all...

Weird question: What are you doing about having your thighs rub together if you're not wearing stockings??

Powder will do the trick. Also make sure you communicate with your banquet manager -- keep the room as COOL as possible. Less sweat means less chaffing!
I agree, dancing doesn't rub as much as walking!
I hit double digits today -- 99 days till my wedding! I can't believe it!

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
Ladies whose weddings are a bit far away....I am at 9 months today. I have to order my dress ASAP!!!!
Whats the deal with alterations and losing weight? Arent there certain kinds of dresses you cant get because they cant be altered that much (I am talking over 20 pounds worth of altering here)....
I am sure the people will let me know when I order it but I was wondering if you had any experiences/suggestions...

Re: A thread just for PlusSize Brides
My salon didn't mention anything about that when I ordered my gown. They basically said, they can always make it smaller -- they just can't make it much bigger.
Luckily, when I tried on my gown in June it was too big. I've been yo-yoing 15 lbs since I ordered my dress, so it was good to see it be big. Now I'm yo-yoing 5 of those 15lbs. Judgement day will be in September when I go for my first fitting.
To be honest, FH loves me the way I am and as much as I'd like to be thinner, I just can't seem to keep it as a priority for myself. That must sound horrible, I know.

I agree with the last part of what you said. If FH loves me the way I look now why would I want to change for who? I thought about that the first of the year, I went on a diet then I was unhappy, FH was unhappy because I was cranky. It just didn't work. From the looks of your picture, you'll be a beautiful bride. I'm not worrying about it niether should you. You have MORE important things to worry about.

I am very happy with ME - my FH loves ME as I am - its my inner beauty that he loves so much.
because think abt it - we all hope to grow old with our FH - our outer will change. But the substance of who we are is inside.
WE are WOMEN OF SUBSTANCE

Try the Wedding Shoe Boutique in Carle Place on Old Country Road. They can order wide widths if you need.

Yes you! I think you and I are the only Amy's on this thread. =)
Kel - your dress is gorgeous! The material looks so soft!
Nutty -- I mostly tried on bigger size samples -- and I tried on over 50 gowns all together between several stores. They are out there, you just have to do some research. We've posted a lot of the better stores that have a wider selection for plus size brides. Review this thread! Good luck!!
ok so i am a bit slow sometimes i just get confused - never been good with names especially mine since noone i know uses it - LMAO!!!!
yes we are doing a whole halloween theme - the bridal party is all in renaissance period outfits the groomsmen are all pirates - it should be a blast - we are even using alot of halloween music like the alfred hitchcock theme to cut the cake -

Hi Amy!
I worked on addresses for the outer labels for the invitations. I will hopefully be putting them together this week to have them mailed out by Aug 16th.
Still wondering about panty hose or knee highs!
FH and I heard from relatives in Vegas that can't make it to the wedding. We're actually excited because we invited way too many people!
