It means you are going to get your first choice of vendors. Plus, if they change their prices (increase them, I mean) next year, chances are you have already signed your contract at the lower price.

Not early at all. You'll get 07 prices and plus you won't stress yourself out with last minute things to do. Trust me there will be a ton of things to do!

The wedding date at the place I wanted was taken, so I had to settle for the week before (a big deal because I'm a teacher and now my wedding isn't during summer vacation!). Plan as early as you can! What are vendors going to do, NOT take your money? This way, you get the vendors you want without worrying that someone else has scooped them up.
Although, honestly, if you're getting married in Oct. of 08, you're definitely NOT the first bride most of your vendors are going to be seeing for that month.

heck no... the upside of a long engagement is the extra time to look at vendors!

you may have seen this before...LOL...I don't think it's too soon either. The earlier you book the better chance to have to get what you want.
