ABSOLUTE WEDDING CRISIS

ABSOLUTE WEDDING CRISIS

I know that it's not the same date but east wind has the estate available for August 31st (or at least they did a few weeks ago when I looked there). At least it would be the same weekend so people traveling probably wouldn't have to make too many changes to their plans if you can't find the same date.

Best of luck with this tough situation!

don't stress. give them a couple of days to let you know what's going on but in the meantime, start checking venues. do not let on that you are in a bind. we booked our venue four months out and got a great deal! hopefully it will not come to that, but you will have options, don't worry.

I hope everything works out. In the meantime, you probably should call around to other venues and see if they have the date open. That way, if you have to make a move, you will have done your research.

Try Riviera at Massapequa. They are similar to your current venue, but I hope everything works out for you!!

Re: ABSOLUTE WEDDING CRISIS

Wow, I'm so sorry, what a horrible situation. My venue The Crestwood Manor is not too popular (because it's for smaller weddings), so they very possibly could be available. Plus the pricing was great. They only do 1 wedding at a time. Good luck honey!

ABSOLUTE WEDDING CRISIS

No word yet. I hear that they're filing for bankrupsy which means my deposits are lost. There are a very small number of places that have my date available. I just have to start the whole search again. It's so depressing

Re: ABSOLUTE WEDDING CRISIS

Just saw this on Newsday.com:

Weddings imperiled by LI event hall's landlord dispute

Several would-be brides and grooms with hopes of hosting a beachfront wedding at an intimate event hall in Bayville have learned their special day is in jeopardy, as the venue abruptly shuttered its doors this week in what it described as a dispute with the landlord.

'We get this email out of the blue from the attorney about a landlord-tenant dispute, saying they'll get back to me in a day or two,' said Tammy Pagnillo, 28, of Bellmore, who was to be married at the WaterView Club in June. 'How long do you want us to wait?'

Pagnillo said she has been planning her wedding since December 2011 to her fiance, Eddie Navarrete, 28, also of Bellmore.

She has the flowers. She has the cake. She has the white dress.

What she didn't have Thursday was the assurance her nuptials would be held at the venue she paid $13,500 to reserve.

The WaterView Club, on the picturesque Long Island Sound in Bayview, earlier this week sent what some couples called a vague email from a lawyer about troubles with the landlord.

The note did not address refunds or rescheduling. Other couples said they received no notice at all, but learned the news from their bakers.

The office of the attorney, Lisa M. Golden, of Garden City, Thursday referred questions to WaterView's owner, Paul Burnup, who did not immediately return calls for comment.

A message on a Facebook page bearing the club's name on Wednesday read: 'WaterView Club did not just close their doors. The landlord has done some unethical things and we are trying to reach a resolution so that all of the events can take place.'

The message continues: 'We know this is very unsettling, but please understand we need a day or two to see exactly what we can get worked out.'

Some couples and their parents, however, are already scrambling for a new location for their loved ones to gather.

'It's a roller coaster of emotions: angry, upset, frustrated, betrayed,' said Diana Krass, 28, of West Islip, who was to marry Peter Hofmann, 35, of Islip, in June at WaterView.

'We're looking for another venue. We can't wait for these guys,' she said. 'All the invitations went out and all my vendors are booked.'

Barbara Lewis, 60, of Hicksville, mother of bride-to-be Theresa, 25, of River Vale, N.J., said her daughter is devastated about the question mark over her August wedding.

'She was just there the Friday before for a food tasting, to pick out her food and pick out her linens,' Lewis said. 'She's a basket case. Every time I talk to her, she cries hysterically.'

She said the family paid $19,000 in cash for the reservation and doesn't know what they'll do next.

Joseph O'Keefe, 34, of Park Slope, Brooklyn, said the family of his fiancee, Gayle Leitman, 27, has put down more than $20,000 for the venue.

He wanted answers Thursday about what is to become of their May nuptials -- at which more than 200 guests are expected -- but has received none.

'My fiancee always wanted to get married on the beach,' he said. 'We've got people coming from all over . . . We're both very upset.'
