I used acutane and it made me suicidal. Its one of the possible side effects. At first I wondered what was wrong with me I was extremely depressed and then had thoughts of hurting myself. I told my doctor and they had to wean me off of it. Besides that it dries out EVERYTHING and you have to be on birth control and take a monthly call in test before you get a prescription.

Yeah it was wonderful and stupid me tried it 2x. Once when i was 17 and again when I was 27. Had the exact same reaction each time. But like all meds its a possible side affect. Everyone is different.

when i went a month ago to the Derm, they said if this were a few years ago they would've put me on Accutane but they are NOT recomending it to ANYONE.
i don't have crazy acne but i do break out still and i believe i have Rosacea

is your acne really that bad? i had the worst acne breakage that it brought me to the brink of depression (no kidding!). i've tried doxy and other antibiotics and it didn't work. accutane really worked wonders for my skin!!! HOWEVER... there are side effects that came with it and it only appeared years after i stopped taking it (and i only took accutane for 3 months!).
back then, i took it without thinking of what could happen because i was too depressed with my face. i'm happy that my skin is clear NOW but honestly, the side effect is so not worth it.

omg. like what? this sounds crazy
is it that bad?? umm..it depends how you classify things...usually i dont have big red blotches, so thats good!! but i do have a lot of under-skin pimples/bumps....most likely from makeup and whatnot...i cut backa bit on makeup...but they arent really going away.,...i hatte itt!! i just want smooth skin!
i was on retin-a for about 8 months...and it took my body awhile to detox off of it. it made my skin crazzzy sensitive!!

Have you tried getting a glycolic facial? My skin is so smooth. I have 4 more treatments and already see a major difference. Also, if that's too expensive...try glycolic face wash, toner, and gel sold at ulta. Its suppose to be just as good. I plan on going with this option when my treatments are up. Good luck! I know its frustruating!
no. but i was going for facials when i stopped the retin-a. it just become tooooo expensive and i had to stop. how often are you supposed to the glyco stuff? ive used the loreal glyco stuff before. i like it. but i never saw a HUGE difference...i jsut kno it didnt make it worse

Janis, how long ago did you use retin-a? i was put on it about 6 years ago and it wasn't for me but i'm on it now and it doens't bother me at all.
i wonder if they changed the formula

i used it about 8 months...increasing the % each time. not sure how much it really helped, because it never made my skin CLEAR.....
and it just made my skin really sensitive. i can vividly recall the last time i got waxed when i was on retin-a...i cried for hours afterwards!!!!!!!
