she told FH, she never plans on having a relationship with me and doesn't think Im the right girl for FH that im a wonderful, great person and likes me as a person, but not as family
she said she will be nice to me but that's about it
FH asks why...she doesn't give a reason!
clearly she needs to cut the umbilical cord and stop being jealous....she will never be happy with any girl FH brings home, bc she thinks FH is her husband and not her SON!
ugh, im so upset and hurt by this
like, why would you want to take such a harsh stance??? is it really necessary to decide that you will never have a relationship with me, without even trying?!

Ye religion is tough!!!!!!!! i can totally understand your situation bec im jewish and Fh was brought up catholic so ye my mom gave me helll on earth the whole time we were dating/engaged etc-- now shes a better but not 100% im sorry-- it sucks and it isnt fair but people have their old school views that they sadly cant grow out of.

I'm sorry you're going through that. It's really hard for mothers to let go of their sons and the religion thing probably just adds more fuel to her fire. It's sad to say, but your family are the people in your home once you close your door at night. You and your FH will create your own family and she'll come around if she'd like to see her grandkids!

Welcome to the club. FMIL does so many things to piss me off or rub me the wrong way, and now I learned I have to just keep my mouth shut bc if I ever bring it up all me and fh do is fight about it. It's not worth letting her ruin our relationship.
