Addressing Invitations - Advice

Has anyone used the Avery Clear Labels for their invitations? I am seriously thinking about using them b/c I found a font in Word 2000 that almost exactly matches my invitation font.

The only difference would be the color b/c we don't have a color printer and the invitation is worded in burgundy. I don't think I really care though. It is easier for the postman to read in black.

Any thoughts?

Fortunately for us, my parents have a color printer, so we were able to do the envelopes in a matching color to the burgundy print on the invitations. But I don`t think it would be bad to use black ink.

I`m sure the clear labels would work fine, but have you considered printing straight onto the envelopes? It worked out great for us, and was pretty simple .. at least if you have a top feed printer. I`m not sure how easy it is if you have a tray feed from the bottom.

Basically with a top feed, just measure the width of your envelopes. Ours were 8.25 inches for the outer, and 8 inches for the inner. Create documents that are those widths in Microsoft Word. For the outer envelopes, we set the top margin to 2.9 inches and on the inner, the top margin we used was 2.6 inches. The side margins were set at 0, and the text was centered. The best thing is to cut a piece of paper the size of both your inner and outer envelopes and use that for a test run before sending any envelopes through. Good Luck!

That's exactly what I did. Bought the clear labels and they are great. I figuire, I would rather make a mistake on the label rather the entire envelope. The black will be just fine. I used a green with the shadow accent with the font I chose and it looks great. I'm also printing up my invites and I had someone look at one of them and they couldn't tell the difference between a professional print shop and me and my computer. :)

Re: Addressing Invitations - Advice

I'd used Avery #8660 for the small domestic addresses and for addressing the inner envelopes.

I'd used Avery #5663 for the big/long domestic and foreign addresses. I'd used some of these for the inner envelopes for those long names or large households. We'd invited children of all ages to our wedding and I'd listed every child's name of the household on the inner envelope to make it more personal. For example, a family of 6 that that has 2 parents and 4 children (2 unmarried adult children and 2 young children) all their names are listed on the inner envelope. I'd used Avery #5663 for cases like this.

Plus, it sure bets writer's cramp or making mistakes and using white out to cover it up when reviewing it on the computer first before printing it out. The only problem that I've had is that I have deskjet printer and I have to wait for the ink on the labels to dry before putting it on the envelopes otherwise the ink will smudge.
