How many ladies are planning on trying for a bun in the oven right after the wedding?
We are either trying right after, or waiting one year tops

Re: After the I Do's
We plan to wait like 4 or 5 years. We want to travel and buy a house first.

We are waiting for a bit, just so that we can havea chance to enjoy being married, but if it happens thats quite alright!

So explain to me this... how does one come up with $25 - $50k for a wedding then have a child almost immediately... I'm not being sour grapes here... I really want to know so I can figure out what I am doing wrong b/c I think we are going to be way too broke to start a family immediately - AND I will be about 35 myself... so my clock is running low on batteries too... but really - kids are not a cheap thing... although I do have to admit - I would not return to work full time - seriously - does that make the big difference? If you are going back to work is that the reason it is more manageable... and those that will stay home or work p/t will have to wait a little bit... again, please no one get upset - I really need to calm FH down b/c the bills for the wedding look ridiculous. We wanted a HM baby too, but I think on the HM I'll be drinking away my bill stress... and I'm not planning a very expensive wedding...
Please let me know how people are managing this... I am sincerely curious... cost of living on LI is so expensive...
#1 - I moved out of NY #2 - I am going back to work FT after the baby is born

Well me and FH are really trying to pay for most wedding related bills before the wedding. There's no way we want to be paying for a wedding that is longer than planning for it. We hopefully will have bought a house before the wedding and if not soon there after. We figured most of the expensive things will be out of the way (wedding, down payment for house) so we can afford one baby. Don't think there will be two. Also we are not young and really don't want to wait. We are also both pretty established in our careers so we probably make more than some of the younger brides on here.

I asked my DH about this, he's 35 and I'm a few years younger but still no spring chicken. He is not ready to have one yet, at 35! He'll be 36 in a few months.
Anyone see something wrong with that? :(
don't feel bad, my DH is also 35 and says he is 'too young'. I'm 25, so I can wait a bit, but he just cracks me up.....

well i know for me and FH - this is why we had a two year engagement - the plan is ( and so far its looking GREAT) that we will 'start at zero' when we get back from our HM - with no debts. . . then whatever wedding gifts we get will go towards a down payment on a house - we are living with my parents from one - two years and then buying a house. . . .i want to wait a year or two before having my babies because there are a few places that we would like to travel to first. . . but my job currently gives me seven months unpaid maternity leave - we will struggle through that and then I will return to work full time after . . .either my mom will take care of the baby (babies?!) OR i will take advantage of the awesome daycare at my job. . . obviously this is just a plan and who knows if it will work out BUT even if we had kids right away - people figure it out all the time

If it was up to me, we'd be trying that night......FH wants to wait at least a year, but recently after spending time with the babies in the family, he is def. warming up to the idea of a honeymoon baby!

Re: After the I Do's
we want to enjoy being married for a while, but i also don't want to be an older mom. I want to have a baby before i'm 30, so i do have some time. We'll probably wait a year before we start trying.
