my FH is VERY against drinking and doesnt want any at the reception. I dont like to get drunk but i see nothing wrong with one or two drinks. I few ppl in my fam always have to have a beer with their meals or a glass of wine....I dont know what to do. he gets so mad about everyting i just wanna make everyone happy

Um......yea you need to have alcohol at your wedding or else you will hear a lot of complaining.
Tell FH if he is ok with hearing the complaints and people having a horrible time than its fine.

just do beer and wine!!
or just have a cash bar. this way it is less like a big drinking party and only the people who really want a drink will pay for one.

I've also have been to dry weddings and cash bar weddings. It's a nightmare. People complain about it ALL night. I think you should at least put Wine on the table. Are you not doing a champagne toast then?

another thing to keep in mind is if theres another bar in your RH, your guests will end up spending ALOT of time there, they'll pay cash for the liquor if they have to

he should be thinking about your guests.....he doesnt have to drink BUT your guests should have the option - there is no reason he should be focing his beliefs about drinking on other people - personally, i would be shocked if i went to a wedding and there was no liquor! i think its tacky and a little rude....if i found out that a wedding was dry - to be honest i probably wouldnt attend it OR i would sneak liquor in b/c if i didnt the party would probably be really boring.......majority of people always have a drink at the 'cocktail' hour and wine with dinner......at least in our families and the parties i've been too....

some weddings are dry weddings for a reason so then its understandable...i know a friend of mine went to a wedding where it was born again christians and they were VERY religious and she knew it would be a dry wedding, in a situation like this then its understandable and the guests can't say anything.

I agree with most of the girls. He should be thinking of your guests too. I've been to a dry wedding, and it was out of state. It was nice, but no one expected alcohol.
In NY, its expected with weddings and you don't want people sneaking around looking for booze and missing the party. If FH is worried about people drinking too much, maybe you can talk to the RH. Tell them you don't want people taking shots and if it looks like someone is getting over the top drunk, give the RH the okay to cut them off.

first off there is nothing wrong with a DRY wedding. people do it all the time. i think people expect it at a wedding though but honestly, its your choice. they are still going to have a great time and like heather said, maybe they can limit it to beer and wine, no liquor. thats what i think makes people crazy. good luck.

Is he afraid that people will get drunk? I'm not a big drinker myself, but honestly, I would like the option if I decided I did want one.

Re: Alcohol at recep?? ideas
lol i dont evne know where to begin to respond to everyone hehe i didnt think this many ppl would respond! :)
Our reception is in the afternoon so i dont think ppl would get plastered. I told him we might be able to do beer and wine and not a totally open bar . It would be 10 bucks cheeper at our RH for no alcohol but i dont want it like that.
He says its okay that its something stupid to fight over and he doesnt want to fighgt over something silly with me and if its going to cause a prob hes fine ( i know hes lyin)
I just dont know what his issue is and he says its just how he is and thats all but there has to be a REASON! i just dont know how to get him to let me know :( oh well. if anyone knows any ideas to get him to open up im ALLLLLL ears!!
Thanks for all the help girls im gonna go to RH this weekend to ask about it :)
