Am I being mean to my daughter????

I can see your point but i think it is a bit strict. My parents were strict but trusted us. I spent 3 months in Toronto when i was 17 with 4 girlfriends and one of there boyfriends. (I am from Irerland so that was a long way). And we got into no trouble at all. Had the time of our lives.
I also have been living in NY since i am 18 on my own. You have to trust her sometime.
Just my opinion.

if ure not comfortable with the idea, then just tell her she cant or maybe if she could at least leave the same day as her friends it'd be a lil better.......

When I was 18 my mother refused to let me go to Cancun with friends. I was sooooo mad at her. I felt like the only one who couldn't go and threw fits, gave her attitude, I was a biotch to her. She held her ground I didn't go.

Now, I 'get it' IMO it isn't safe and if you say she can be naive then I it isn't worth it. All too often young girls go away to other countries and tragedies happen. At 18 you think 'it will never happen to me'.

I agree that maybe trip to FL or somewhere in the states would be better, safer and a great compromise.

my parents would never had let me go and i totally agree with your stance. when i was 18, i did go to florida with some of my friends though and it was an awesome, safe time. agree with you 100%.

i don't think you are wrong... but i would not be worried about her flying alone at all. how muc trouble can you get into on a plane??!!

I would be more worried about what happends when she is there. I know I went away with friends when I was in college. I think alot depends on the maturity level.... would she leave her friends at a bar? Go off alone? IF you think she is naive and would do that I definitely would not let her!
