Annoying pet peeves

Original post by diamondgrlie

It's Friday and my boss lied and said he was going away with his family but his son called to ask where his Daddy was. Hmmmm I wonder if he meant to say golfing or something...

I am now in a bad mood and want to start a pet peeves thread.

About ANYTHING!

How about when you have someone constantly kicking the back of your chair while you're trying to watch a movie????

ARGHHHHHHHHH!

Or when you're on the train or a plane and there's some little brat kicking the chair and his mother/father doesn't say anything about it?

Cell phoner users on the LIRR. Not the quick conversations the the really bad ones that won't SHUT UP!!! - If you need to continue working stay at the office!!! - If you'll be home in 20 minutes why do you need to call home? Afraid it's not there anymore or your spouse has a lover in the house? And OMG why do I need to here the full version of 'La Cucaracha' or 'Oops I did it Again' every time your phone rings? Vibrate people vibrate.

7) people who constantly have something to complain about, but never do anything to change what they're complaining about. if you're not going to do anything, stop asking my advice and acting like it's going to change on a week by week basis!

Oh!! That's mine too!!

Like one of my friends who's on the heavy side and CONSTANTLY complains about how fat she is but continues to have Fast Food almost every night and never gets her butt off the couch!!

Or my FH who's been saying that he hates his job for over a year, and complains about it every night, but has yet to put together his resume or look for a way out!!

Don't complain about it and then do NOTHING about it!!

Thanks.....I needed that!

Okay, I've got a few. This is fun since I'm not really a 'complainer':

1) people who stand on the left side of the escalator--move to the right, the left is for those walking up the escalator. This is mostly a NYC thing.

2) on the parkways, when someone is trying to merge and decides to cut YOU off when there are no cars behind you. you couldn't wait the 2 seconds?

3) people who are late and don't call to tell you that they're going to be late

4) people on LIRR who so badly don't want anyone to sit next to them that they keep a big *** bag or briefcase on the seat next to them during rush hour

5) people who talk loudly on their cell phones AND those who think it's okay to go through ALL their ringtones til they find 'just the right one.'

6) on the LIRR and subway, people who elbow you while you're sitting next to them

7) people who constantly have something to complain about, but never do anything to change what they're complaining about. if you're not going to do anything, stop asking my advice and acting like it's going to change on a week by week basis!

I'm sure I'll have more to add by the end of the day

Wow, I think we are soul mates!! Add people's inability to merge onto escalators and stairs my list of commuting complaints is complete.

As for #4 - no matter how many empty seats there are, that's the seat I go for.

I CAN'T STAND THIS!!! People who through their garbage out their car window and/or their cigarette butts. Where were you raised? It infuriates me!!!!!

It's the 'world is my ashtray' philosophy. I hate that too.

What about when you are driving and you wave somebody to go and they don't give the courtasy wave back! That makes me so mad!

Or if you hold a door for someone and they don't thank you! Sometimes I yell 'your welcome!' !

I have a disgusting one...

People who have a cold or runny nose and instead of blowing it they suck the snot up and make that revolting snorting sound.

It makes me gag...I am dry heaving just thinking about it.

GET A TISSUE AND FIND A BATHROOM!

This is my BIGGEST pet peeve ever!!!! Whenever we are out and someone does this my FH cracks up because he knows I am so completely disgusted!!!

When my Mom bitches about my FMIL's ideas about the wedding and then she calls to talk about inviting people I don't even know and who we need to fly and table decor....ahhh!! She's juat as freaking bad!

And then...my FI broke out in Shingles due to work stress, then she called him while he was home sick to get him to make location and date decisions! Hello...the poor man is stressed to begin with!!

Oh! I just thought of another pet peeve! NEXTELS! I hate when I am the nail salon or supermarket and people have full blown, intimate conversations over their nextel. Do we all need to know that you have some weird rash, etc?

YES--add that to my list. I think worse than the conversation is that annoying beep the phone makes everytime the person is ready to talk. No one is interested in your f&$&ing conversation!!!

Really, people that talk loudly (or at all) in a movie theater infuriate me to no end.

Why the f**k are you at the g-d movie! Go to a coffee shop!

And then, when you ask them to please quiet down, they look at you as if you walked into their home and told them to shut-up!
Somehow I think this is a NY-metropolitan area thing. It can't be like this in the rest of the country. can it?

I HATE NEXTEL PHONES!!

And people who don't use their turn signal when driving. Don't they realize that it prevents them from getting into accidents.

I also hate it when people are walking straight but are looking to the side and walk right into you. How hard is it to look where you are walking?

That DRIVES ME CRAZY!!!!! thats why i hate going to the movies.
when i went to see Hannibal, i had read the book already. but this young girl behind me was explaining the book to her friend as the movie was going!!! and revealing things (my dh didn't read it). So i turned around and told her to please be quiet. Her response was 'why?, nothing is going on right now!!' so i yelled back at her 'Yeah but not everyone wants you to tell them how the damn movie ends!!!!' i wanted to hit the brat!!

or i get stuck next to the people who REALLY NEED TO blow their noses! ewwww!

it never fails that i get stuck near a talker. this isn't your living room people!

i HATE being interrupted!!! if it happens enough times i'll walk away from the person. I think its so rude!

Or people who turn your conversation/story around to them... then monopolize the convo. it ALWAYS has to be about them!!! they can't just listen.

Re: Annoying pet peeves

Thought of another one. I think someone may have mentioned this, but when someone calls you and they're having conversations with other people in the background. When they finally start talking to me, I say, 'Oh, I'm sorry, are you talking to me? I couldn't tell.' Or I just tell them, 'It sounds like you're busy with other things. Why don't you give me a call when you free up.' It's just so annoying especially when THEY called ME!!!

And what about people who just leave you on call waiting forever? That's why we don't even have it. FH thinks it's rude. I finally agree with him.

I have one for MTA riders... why is it that when you're about to enter the train, as soon as the door opens, some small asian woman is knocking you over for that last open seat? why? why?? WHYYYY!????

That's another one of my pet peeves... stop knocking people over to get a seat lady, we're not playing football!

I don't like it when people have a general disregard for others:

Chronic tardiness
Not watching where you are going
Pushing
Not waiting your turn
interupting
not holding doors
etc
