Anxious about my new name

I can't wait to change my last name! No one can spell, let alone pronounce my last name right now lol. I went to dress barn the other day (got my shower dress - YAY!) and I said it was for my shower and the girl made me give her FH's last name instead of my name now lol. I actually had to think about how to spell it because I wasn't used to it. His name is said how it's spelled, so it will be so much easier. Plus I want us all to have the same last name.

I will be changing it professionally; but I'm keeping my maiden name as my middle name so my certification change is easier.

Crashing* I am so excited about changing my last name. Not because I don't like mine (I do) but mainly because I feel it's like I am officially his wife. My last name is very italian & is going to be Mango. (yes, like the fruit)

@Scottsbride lmao my middle name is Ann and my future last name is Smith Good point. My maiden name is Clarke so the e is silent. (Don't you love the English Language) So I have to spell it out all the time. Now with Smith I can just say Smith.

My last name is not very pretty and has 9 letters! I'm excited to switch to FHs which is only 5. We both have weird German last names, but his is easier to pronounce so it's a no brainer. Plus FH wasn't exactly giving me an option anyway lol.

I sort of feel like I'm going to be losing my Italian-ness in a way. As I get closer to the wedding day though, I'm more excited about finally being Mr. & Mrs. I thought about hyphenating, but that's just going to be a ridiculous mouthful.

I feel the same way! Im taking FH's name but I have an Irish last name and his is not, and often butchered. I asked if we could put a Mc or an O' infront of his name to make it irish... he turned that down

I'm hyphenating. My last name is 10 letters and his is 4, though both names are easy to pronounce and they kind of flow nicely together.

I went back and fourth with what to do. Mostly because there are no males in my family and no male cousin so it was kinda sad to lose it. However in the end I decided it would just be easier in the long run to have his name. However I have yet to start any of the paper work. He hasn't said anything yet but I did notice my airplane ticket for August is in his last name. So I will be changing it in the next few weeks.

I have a long Irish last name, and my first and last name both have several sets of double letters. FHs is a short ukranian name, but people always ask if it's Irish or Italian. Professionally it doesn't matter for me, my it department says if you type in my old email it will reroute and the new one will automatically pop up. Also email from outside companies will reroute to my new one as well. So no worries for me, I'm changing it.

I'm struggling with this as well. I have a very Italian name. Its 9 letters and 3 syllables. Plus, I'll be 34 when were married, AND I've been teaching for 12 years. I've been known as Miss _____ forever. Almost everyone I know calls me by my last name. Changing it so a short 5 letter-1 syllable name is going to be hard! As of now I'm going to do it but its not going to be easy. I was joking with FH about combining our last names to make a new one... He wasn't into it, lol!
