How many brides out there are keeping thier last names when they get married? I've had my name for almost 22 years and I don't feel the need to give it up. FH is not thrilled, but he knows that there's no way I'd ever give up my name, especially for a misogynistic tradition. Are any of you keeping your last name? How does FH feel? Have you discussed what last name your kids will take? How will you let people know? We were thinking of putting in a little card in the invitation like an 'at home' card that clearly says 'Mr. Groom Groomsname and Mrs. bride Bridesname will be at home at..' or just 'After the wedding, the couple will be known as 'Mr Groom Groomsname and Mrs. Bride Bridesname?' What do you think? What kinds of challenges are you facing?

Re: Any bride keeping her name?
I don't have a middle name so I am making my maiden name my middle name. I have had my name for 27 years. It makes me sad to think I would have to stop going by it. My FI is ok with this decision. He has a long Greek name. It is a conversation started everytime he has to sign or has his name called out. My last name is Italian. I don't want to explain to people for the rest of my life that I am not Greek but rather my husband is. When they see the both of our names together, they'll get the picture.

Re: Any bride keeping her name?
I 'm changing my name because A. I think it's romantic and B. I'm not in contact with my father, my mother is remarried with a new last name, and I simply have no attachment to my last name.
My FI was actually surprised when I told him I would be changing my name. I guess he thought since I am so independent that I would want to keep my last name.
I am not, however, going to be referred to as Mrs. Brian HisLastName. I AM keeping my first name! We will be pronounced as Brian and Brandy HisLastName, Not Mr. and Mrs. Brian HisLastName.

I just feel like its an honor to take my FI's name. It's saying - I love you and today we become one - one flesh, one family. And as part of that deal we have one last name ... his. I cant wait to be MrsBrad!

Hi
For 1 - I love my middle name. If, I hypen my name, I won't be able to use it. I really don't care for my last name. And, I love fh so much...that it does not matter what his last name is , I want it attached to mines

I am taking my fi last name, I am glad to be rid of mine.
If My dad and his side of the family was normal then I would want to keep my name for business purposes... but I can't stand the whole family and I can't wait to get rid of my last name!
