Any brides out there paying for there own wedding with there FH? Do you find it really hard and frustrating ?

We paid for our own wedding and it was hard. We did have some money saved but whoah. Payment plans helped a lot There is also a budget brides thread on here or something like that with a lot of good ideas to save $$. There are many many brides on here who paid or are paying for their own weddings. You are definitely not alone!!

we are paying for the entire wedding ourselves. We knew we were doing this before we dove into the planning. My mom wanted to pay for my dress and bridal attire so that's one thing we don't have to worry about. And my father has been getting FH a lot of side work which I guess is his way of 'contributing' to the wedding which is very nice of him.
It gets a little frustrating sometimes when I see something that would be an awesome additional or added element to the wedding but it just not in the budget for us. Honestly though, in the end it doesn't matter. The only thing that will matter to me that day is that FH and I are married and we can start the rest of ours lives together.

We are getting some help from my parents but its still not easy. My mom wants to help out more but she paid for most of my college loans and I just don't want to make her go broke for my wedding.

We are paying for this all on our own!
No help from parents, and I make minimum wage at the moment, so it's hard on us and FH since he has to save most of it.
last resort at the end is we take out a loan to pay the rest!
But so far, so good and we have time on our side!

WE are!!! but we booked all our vendors already-- honestly planning in advance was the most awesome and helpful thing we could have done-- we planned all our payments out-- if I could have had a one year year engagement i would have-- thats the one thing i compromised on-- we're having a two year engagement-- able to book all the vendors that we want and still feel ok about it!!

Yes that is the reason my wedding is in 2011 and soo far away bc we need to save. It is hard bc saving money is not easy but we are managing so far.

Ditto. My parents gave us some money (which I'm VERY thankful for), but it's not even a fifth of what the wedding is probably going to cost. We decided to get married late next year so that we could save as much money as possible.

Me. And that is why we are trying to budget so much. Things like. Booked a very very reasonable DJ. Family are taking all the photos Aunt works for a towncar co so we are getting a discount there. (but also no fancy limos) Mom is paying for bridal gown Planned a winter wedding for the cheaper prices. FIL paying for flowers (although must be from the florist she wants.)

Yup! My parents would have contributed, but they are paying for my entire schooling and also paid for my sister's schooling too. Very, very, generous. But, my mom is paying for my wedding attire!!

we are paying for most of the wedding ourselves. my parents are paying for my attire and giving us a few thousand ( dosn't even cover photographer) but i am grateful for anything they can give us. They are doing way more than i thought they could. everything else is up to us.

We are paying for everything. No one is helping. Yes, it hard, but we have a long engagement and we brought the house the year before. So we had to re-save for the wedding. You are no alone.

Yeah we are paying for ours alone. Its been going well for us though because I just got promoted in November. If it weren't for that, I don't know how we would pay for it. lol.

I am literally paying for this entire event on my own. Down to my own dress, all the gifts, you name it. Set a budget on what you have saved and what you expect to actually put away and you can plan accordingly that way.
You can plan and have a GORGEOUS event for a lot less than you think. Payment plans help too. Dont' forget that you can negotiate everything and anything. In this economy you will see that it becomes pretty affordable. There are also companies that are all inclusive in terms of dj, photo and video that will offer incentives. Another trick (you don't need more than 2 limos - a lead car and the bridal party car perhaps) helped me save $600.
