Any brides that..............

Just wondering if there are any future brides that do not have their mom involved in their lives thus not apart of the wedding process???

Mom not involved in the planning one bit. She was a guest, was happy and nice, but not a typical MOB in anyway. I am 41, so perhaps that is to be expected.

I'm so glad you posted this, because this is exactly how I feel.

My mom causes me such stress about things, I don't know why and I don't know how to get her to stop it.

I love her and respect her, but oh my god she can make me crazy!

Me too. It made me feel funny sometimes when I would read all the posts about everyone's mom being so helpful. I would love to have a mother like that!!! My mother is a very toxic person and didn't play a part in my planning at all.

That is my dad! It is hard to take. He is the most negative person I know and often brings a toxic vibe to things...

my mom is a part of my life, but she hasn't thus far done anything with me for our wedding and I'm not sure if she will decide to or kind of stand to the side through it. It's not that she isn't happy for us, it's just the way her and I are... we stay out of each others 'business' until we think we should step in. It's a little sucky in this instance, but I guess there's time for things to turn around....

Ugh yay glad to see I wasn't alone.
My mom hasn't contributed anything but negativity! Even on the day of, she was stressing me out at times with all her whining.
I love her dearly but sometimes I just wanted to tell her to leave

My mom is with us, but she is disabled so she's can't do anything at all. So, it's almost the same, but at the same token, not quite.

my mom lives in florida so she isnt involved with the wedding planning - which is fine - i think that the planning should be left to FH and I especially since we are the only ones coming up with the funds to pay for it - but i do wish she wasnt as negative as she can be - she has a way of making me feel guilty that she has to spend money to get here for the wedding and everything is a lot of money to her - i dont think it would be any easier if she was here though somehow it would probably be the same scenario

That's me too, But:
#1 She lives in FL
#2 I HATE her looser boyfriend & will NOT have anything to do w/him. SO, like a child...she doesn't really acknowledge my fiance too much either, because I don't acknowledge her boyfriend. Reverse rolls to say the least.
I can tell you this, her invite is for HER ONLY - this should be interesting...

Wow , it is trully comforting that other future brides are dealing with the same thing I am. I mean it is sad, whatever the circumstances.
My mother is not a part my life.. She is a bit of a wackco, If you mean that you are estranged from her then i know what you are feeling. Wedding are for the parents as well and well although my father is GREAT not much of a planner. It feels bit weird and some people don't understand but If your FMIL is cool , I have seen mine seem to feel as though she need to fill that role, so it has brought us closer. In the end I remind myself that those who care about me and I care about will be there for me on My Special Day!

Good luck to all

My mom is a huge part of my life but not part of the wedding process at all! She is very happy for us but she is not into weddings - she has her reasons and I completely get it. I'll call her to tell her little things and she'll be like 'oh good' and then she moves onto telling me about something the cats did When I want/need that 'excited' reaction, I'll call grandma and she never lets me down!

me too my mom isn't helping at all.

the last thing she said to me was 'you should loose weight your never going to find a dress or look nice enough to have a nice wedding'

my MOH even asked her if she was going to be involved in the shower and the answer she got was' it's a year from now so we'll see'
my poor MOH is stressing now about a shower I ended up telling her it's not important don't worry about a shower. She wasn't having that and INSISTS that i be given a shower so we shall see what happens over the next few months

my mom is not the planning type of person and doesn't really like to get involved. sometimes it hurts though because it would be nice to have a mom that was excited about her daughters wedding!

I have my mom in my life to a point. We talk maybe every other week. She lives in NC. She has not been a part of my planning at all.
She sent $500- to my sister for my shower & a few GGGG's for my wedding. She did what she could but don't have a great relationship. I will enfasize that to photographer because I don't want a lot of mom & me photos....it would be fake.
This is why My nephew is walking me down the aisle.

my mom really isn't a part of my life..she hasn't been since i was a child. She's a very toxic person and until she can stop drinking and acknowledge what she has done to me and my brother's life, i can't trust her for anything. She said she'd pay for my gown-which i bought on sale b/c i ddin't want to spend too much money, and has she helped pay for it....no. I don't even want to know what will happen for my shower...or even at my wedding. I am keeping a taxi company number on hand in case she goes crazy at the wedding ( her and my dad seperated 1 1/2 yrs ago) so i can simply ship her out. I'm too old to deal with it.

sorry this was long but man it feels good to get it out and know i'm not the only one in this spot.

I think LIW became so important to me because it filled in that mom gap

Re: Any brides that..............

it stinks that we all have this uninvolved mom nonsense in common, but it's nice to have someone who understands and not feel like the odd one out. It's so nice being able to have found friends on here that are that little 'excitement' you need when something makes one of us happy and we know we're just not going to necessarily get it out of our own parents.

My moms great, but to her there's always tomorrow and there's no need to rush, etc. All she does is aggrivate and stress me out, so I just go about my business and in the end I'll tell her where and when to show up. Now as for my FMIL, she acts so excited and involved and I love that, but I wish my mom would be like that too sometimes, esp since she was with my sister ....

It's really nice having you ladies to be happy and excited with, thanks for it!
