Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to marry FH and will definitely take his last name. But, I'm having 'last name withdrawal' already. I will definitely morn my last name, and feel a little like I'll be losing my identity. I've had that name for 30 years.

I love my last name but I can't wait to change it. It's really hard to spell and I have to repeat the spelling a million times and people STILL get it wrong! FH last name is Italian like mine but easy to pronounce and spell

omg! i totally have been feeling this too lately. at first it didn't even phase me but as the day gets closer it makes me sad that i'll no longer have my name. my last name is super long so i really can't keep it or hyphenate. i feel bad mentioning it to my FH cuz i think it hurts his feelings but it has nothing to do with my feelings toward him.....just sadness about my name being different. i totally get how you feel!!

Yes I am totally sad about giving up my last name. But I love my FH and he really wants me to change it. I guess I will get use to it

I really don't want to give up my last name. It's the one obvious 'tie' I have to my dad. Hyphenating is so long though...I may get rid of my middle name and use my maiden as my middle.

Thank God I'm not the only one! It's even more strange because I feel so identified by my last name because I'm a teacher. I'm called Miss 'So-and-So' for so long. It will definitely be an adjustment to be a Mrs. 'FH'. I feel like I need to have a little ceremony when I give up my last name...like a little funeral, lol.

I actually might take both of my last names not hyphenated like they do in many Latin countries, and then just ditch my middle initial. But, I have a really great family history and I'm not OK with being separated from it, even if only by name. I'm the first generation born in the US, and it's been a long road for my family, I'm very proud of my name.

i just recently started to feel that way myself. I mean, i doodle 'Mrs. Kerri Hill' on everything... but I already miss my last name. Especially since FH always says 'You can't spell Hughes without a Hug' he's said that to me since we met...
and all my teachers and theater friends call me by my last name... it's gonna be wierd, and hard to get used to.
