Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to marry FH and will definitely take his last name. But, I'm having 'last name withdrawal' already. I will definitely morn my last name, and feel a little like I'll be losing my identity. I've had that name for 30 years.

how crazy...i was coming on to post something like this before and i got distracted.....i don't really love my last name, it's hard to pronounce, no one knows how to spell it....but it's me...this is who i have been for 26 years....now I will have an irish last name...don't get me wrong, he has an OK last name, but it totally doesn't flow with typical gini name...it just sounds weird. I asked if i can keep mine or hyphenate and he got a little insulted because he's the last man with his last name and he wants to 'carry it on'....
that's what kids are for!

cool! I have a huge emotional connection to my name and can't imagine changing it. And I want my middle name too so just throw FH's name at the end of the train

my last name is pretty much the worst ever. i had a contest w an 08er a while ago and we both suffered equally bad last names...but she became an 07er so i think i win the worst last name 08er ever award...
FH's name is not the best i've ever heard but it's way better than mine...so i can't wait!!

I agree with you, but I also agree with some of the other girls...My last name ALWAYS is being spelled wrong (Im a teacher and the kids do it all the time)...So tired of spelling it for everyone. My future last name isn't all that easy but it's a little easier (harder to say haha)...Win some, lose some!

Our daughter has both our last names, but I'm changing mine to his and we're just going to use the one last name for her.

I'm not sad at all! I LOVE his last name since it's so Italian and the name of a former Yankee that will forever be one of the greatest! I'm happy to give mine up!

DH and I eloped 2yrs ago and I still havent changed it! Sometimes he says he doesnt care other times he makes comments letting me know it bothers him. I use it for anything that really doesnt have to do with bills or school but I really have to get to social security and do it!

I'm actually excited to give up my last name and take FH's.
It may also have to do with the fact that I have a brother, and he will be able to carry on my last name. (He better, he's our only chance... lol)

Im definitly going to miss my last name b/c i know it will be a struggle for ppl to pronounce my new last name. Very European that isnt spelt how its pronounced. Yikes!! But ill get used to it.

I'm sad about losing mine...I thought about hyphenating but my FH hates the idea...It mostly bothers me because I'm Jewish and he's not and his last name is very unjewish sounding...I feel like it's like losing a part of yourself
