anyone doing a destination wedding?

My friend is getting married and she was trying to think of a nice place for a destination wedding.

Any ideas or had one or been to one?

Any ideas of prices?

I wen to a destination wedding in Puerto Rico last December - it was at the Westin Rio Mar - we made a long weekend out of it and had a blast.

Also went to a destination wedding in Cancun last May - GREAT!!! since Cancun is trying to attract tourist again she might be able to get a great deal there right now. I already saw ads in last weekends paper saying that hotels were ready for tourists.

As for prices the Cancun wedding couple paid $90 a person at their reception. It was buffett, but it worked because fewer people attended. The food was great: lobster tail, filet mignon all the trimmings. It was at the J.W. Marriott.

TIP: The J.W. is right next to the Marriott Casa Magna which is cheaper for guests, but the wedding can still be held at the J.W.

I went to one in St. Lucia. My friend doesn't have a lot of family, so they rented a villa and had the ceremony in the year on a cliff during sunset - it was gorgeous.

And, another in Nantucket for my SIL which was a blast as well.
