Anyone else get ready at a hotel???

Pros and cons??

Me

I've never lived in my mom's current apt and it's all the way out in Babylon (no offense to you Suffolk girls). So, I decided that it will be best if I stay at the hotel that the OOT guests are staying in and get ready there. My mom wasn't thrilled but she understood.

I plan to get ready at the same hotel as my OOT guests. Similar to your earlier post, my house is just too samll for my BP and photographers - plus I have 2 big dogs, and I don't need to deal with dog hair on my wedding day.

I know my pictures won't have the familiar backdrop, but I know it will be a better location, practically speaking.

yes i am!!!!! I cannot wait to get ready there but my wedding is right across the parking lot so no limos for me.
my other friends wedding we did this because she did not have enough room either it was the best that we all got ready there and the limo picked us up from the hotel to the ceremony/reception.

I'll also be staying @ the same hotel as the OOT'ers.
My mom just moved to Florida. Even still she had a small apartment so it wouldn't have mattered.
My FMIL actually told my FH that he was not welcome to get ready at there house. (His childhood home) so he will be getting ready @ our house.

I will either get ready at the hotel or the bridal suite. I live in NYC and the church and reception is in Suffolk. I don't want to have to worry about traffic or sitting and wrinkling my dress for an hour!

I got ready at the Hampton Inn-Brookhaven.

Everything was fine getting ready there.
Maybe a little bit snug in a standard room, with the rest of your BP there with some of them also getting ready plus your make-up artist, photographer and videographer also in the same room.

Try to get a Suite if you can.

Re: Anyone else get ready at a hotel???

we live in Westchester -- so my parents got a room, and I also stayed at the Huntington Hilton the night b/f the wedding and I got ready at the hotel (we also stood their on our wedding night )

I got the big suite so we had enough room for picture taking, getting dressed, having my hair/makeup done, my bridal party pics, etc.

My parents don't even own their house anymore (they live in a condo), and our apartment is tiny .. so even if the wedding was local to where I live i would have gotten ready at a hotel. So I didn't have any emotional attachment to getting ready at 'home' , so to speak.

ETA: it was also the hotel where we blocked rooms for our OTT guests, so the majority of my family was there which made it seem the same as being at home anyhow

all pros to me
i'm even getting ready at hotel

fw and i are both staying at Fox Inn (seperate room opposite ends) the night before...

pictures came out graet. the room are huge, so the girls can do the get ready thing.. pricly but well worth it not being in my small backyard apt that i call home.

I'm getting ready in a hotel. Mostly because the weddding is in Westchester and our apartment is in LI. Also, I want it to feel like a really special day and getting ready in my apartment doesn't give me that feeling. My other reason is because I don't want a photographer taking pics in our apartment because I know myself and I'd be running around cleaning so there wouldn't be anything messy in the pictures

I'm getting ready at the Garden City Hotel and then staying there that night. I have 4 cats and I do not want to pick cat hair off my dress. I would like pictures in my yard but I'm not willing to risk the cat's destroying my day.

I am getting ready at the hotel too- staying there with all our OOT'ers. We live in the city, and wedding is on LI.. therefore, can't get ready at home.. Plus- I;ll have hair and make up people there, etc. Need that big hotel room!

I'm torn, my hall does one wedding at a time, and my wedding is an evening wedding....there is a day wedding that day...soooo....they told us that we won't be able to get the bridal suite until around 4:30, but they can give us a room a nothing special room that I can get ready in....I feel like this day should be special and I should be in a comfortable room so I'm debating about a hotel......my FMIL, FSIL me, and possibly some others including my Mom will all be using the same make up woman so we can't be all over the place you know....

i feel like u were writing my answer!!!! my mom thinks its stupid i wont be getting ready at the house, but its just too crazy to have everyone over, hair, makeup, photographers, bm's, family, 2 dogs, etc. a hotel is the best way for me to go. i plan to get a room/suite with all my bm's the night before. we can drink some wine and tell old stories. i know i wont be able to sleep anyway! I will however have to get to the dogs somehow cause i need pics with my girls

I'm getting ready at a hotel too. Staying there the night before the wedding. My mom's apt is small to begin with , and then my uncle moved in for a short time, no room there. I have 3 cats which means CAT HAIR everywhere, and I didnt feel comfortable at someone elses house.

Im actually ahppy about it, it will be clean, roomy and less stressful I think.
