Anyone else have an FH that works ALL THE TIME

Original post by jteach711

My fh is a mortgage broker and lately he has been working like 80 hour weeks. I know he is stressed with the wedding and we want to buy a house and have a baby shortly after the wedding, but I feel like I never see him anymore (and we live together). The sad part is when he is home he is so tired or stressed out it makes it hard for us to connect with each other lately. I know he is doing it for our future but I miss him and I hate seeing him so worried all the time.

BTW, we make pretty good money, I have been teaching for 6 years and he is even in the process of buying the mortgage company he works for. I feel like the financial stress will never end.

Anyone else in my boat

My FH works for a professional sports team. During the season, I rarely see him. When the team is at home he works 18+ hour days, and when they are away, he is away. So, I completely understand!

MY Fh is a teacher, works MOn-Fri 8-5. I dont see him during the week. You girls are lucky you get to see your FH's, I have to wait for the weekend to see mine

Why can't you 2 see each other at night during the week?

Sometimes that happens, when we have a function to go to and mostly in the summer when he is off from school he will come down and get me from work and go have dinner. But its not that easy, after work we are soooo tired, I just want to go home.

My FH works at capital one. Gets people auto loans. Makes good money. And i swear he works all the time. He has a second job too. The gym. It dosen't sound like a second job but it is, he is training to be in the men fitness competition. So that is two hours everyday. I get out of work at 3:30 sometimes early and it sux to be by myself.

my FH works ALOT!! he owns his own business, so it has its pluses and negatives.

The negatives is that he is always busy, and works from like 7am-9 or 10 or 11pm

The positives are that he is his own boss, and has no one to answer to. We can go away for as long as we like, and there is alot of flexibility, because i work with him, so we dont have a limited number of sick days or vacation or personal days, if he wants to hang at home one day he can, and no one can say a word

Re: Anyone else have an FH that works ALL THE TIME

Life is tough these days with all the hours people have work. Especially on Long Island. 9 to 5 doesn't exist anymore.

Both my FH and I are teachers, so we are lucky to have summers and vacations together. But last year, he worked his a$$ off during the school year. He would be up until 1am sometimes doing lesson plans! It was awful. And I was always out late tutoring or in school (getting my masters). I am hoping this year will be easier.

PS I am presently procrastinating writing my lessons for tomorrow. FH is in his 'office', working away.

We live like 15 mins away. Its not that bad but he has lesson plans to do, I have things to do etc etc or else we would be like lets hang out. And now that its getting colder and the days are getting longer, I want to go home, I wish he was there with him, but what can you do right. He works at Aviation in LIC

Yea its nice, he isnt home yet and wont be home for a while, i guess im just so used to it now.
Another plus is since he is his own boss, he makes his own raises, and determines what he makes, and i get alot of time off cause i dont have to be there all the time!

Re: Anyone else have an FH that works ALL THE TIME

I sure do! My FH is a contracted welder for naval vessels so that means he's traveling all the time. Right now he's in Portland (not Maine...OREGON!!) so he's extra far away. Since we've been engaged he's been in Florida, Wisconsin, Rhode Island and now Portland, all for two month plus spans.

The only good part about it is that he can sell himself essentially to the highest bidder b/c it's so hard to get people who are willing to leave their family to go so far away for such a long time . He's mainly doing it now to help w/ wedding finances and it definitely helps but it also absolutely sux

....thank god for camera phones and web cams!!

eek sorry i should have mentioned those too! i am sorry!!!!

yes, there are some GREAT things that come with owning your own business. . . we can go away for the entire winter if we like ( i have SO MANY vacation days ) and it can be very rewarding

i just wanted to let you know about the rough parts bc i was TOTALLY blindesided! I thought 'GREAT! He is going to own his own business NOW we can do whatever we want whenever we want to!'

I had a really hard time transitioning but I was also pretty young ( this was a few years ago ) after I got over that initial period I really appreciated the opportunity that he took advantage of!!!

FH is ALWAYS working! He leaves in the morning at 4:30 to drive into the city and he gets home around 8pm (if he works late). He also has a second job on the weekend...all day and night!
I've gotten used to it over the years...but it definitely makes life difficult!

My FH is in the Marine Corps 'in support of the recruiting mission'...Whatever that means. He works close to 12 hour days, 6 days a week. I feel like I am marrying the USMC too!
