I don't mean second guessing themselves but just the whole concept? I am so excited to marry Joe and have him as my husband...but I get an overwhelming feeling sometimes, like forever is a long time...but not in the sense that I want to be with anyone else, more just like keeping each other happy, keeping the relationship fresh and all those crazy events life has to throw at you it can make it hard. I know that is what marriage is all about. Sometimes I wonder what happened to the simpler days! lol I think I am very emotional today and can cry at any given moment, not too sure why it's not even PMS time!!! We went for our marriage license yesterday and our rings and I guess I started thinking and the wheels haven't stopped turning yet! I feel like this now and I have 51 days left god help me!

Re: Anyone else nervous about marriage?
I definitely am...alot more than I ever thought I would be...it all started this weekend when I got the Church pamphlet and I saw our names as the second band of marriage...and was like !@#$
It really is coming up...and my BF got a macaw parrot and they have a 70yr life, and I was telling her that's a huge commitment, when it dawned on me...I'M about to embarke on a HUGE LIFETIME COMMITMENT!!! It's scary and exciting all at the same time, and yet I still can't seem to wait to marry the love of my life

Re: Anyone else nervous about marriage?
It's starting to dawn on me today. I was pretty calm until today. I think it will really kick in on the wedding day. I am nervous, anxious, excited and happy all at once!
We just moved in together last month and it was a tough adjustment. Neither one of us has lived with anyone before and we are trying to compromise and communicate as much as we can. Quite frankly, it's pretty awesome.

Re: Anyone else nervous about marriage?
this is probably the greatest thread ever!!!!
When i am in bed at night, my mind races about the future. Things like, how am i going to know what to cook for dinner at night, when am i going to have time to clean my house, do laundry, and still hang out with my FH on the couch and watch TV. I also think about finances and how can we afford certain things. Then i move on to thinking about keeping the spark alive and the butterfly feeling in the stomach and all that lovely dovey stuff. Like my parents will give eachother hugs and kisses out of no where, and i think to myself, i hope we are like that after 27 years of marriage.
I think about being a good wife. I told him the other day how i can not wait to get married, but i am soo nervous about being a wife.... it is going to take work, just like it will take work for him to be a husband.
But in the end all that matters is that i am marrying the love of my life and after these 81 days i will start this new journey, but at least i know i am not alone!!!!

dont worry about the cooking and cleaning you will be fine - thats the EASY part! you will still have time for just the two of you - after a few weeks of living together things just work themselves out - my FH and I settled right into the groove of things when we moved in together - and its really fun in the beginning - and its STILL fun now.....i think the hardest part is keeping things new and exciting after 10, 15, 20 years!!

Im not at that point of fearing marriage yet...same concerns about keeping it fresh and exciting and having FH understand that we will have bad times....
My aunt said it best..she has been married almost 50 years.. she said:
'There will be YEARS that you are madly in love with eachother and YEARS that you HATE eachother.. It's making it through those 'hate' years by knowing that the madly in love year is around the corner '
Aww that is great, I am going to save this thread...

I thought of that too! I will admit it, before I got married I did NOTHING. My mom cooked and did my laundry for me. Everyone thought I was going to die once I had to do everything on my own.
I got into the routine of things SO QUICKLY! I come home from work and have time to cook, do laundry and clean before my primetime shows even start! It is all about making a schedule and being organized! Sometimes, I STILL can't believe how easy the transition was!
And, to be honest, I have MORE time now. . .I have MORE energy and I find that I actually have TIME to work out or read for fun. Before, I would come home and sit in front of the TV or go on HERE and then the next thing I knew it would be time for bed!

I'm saving it too. It's nice knowing I'm not the only one up at night with these thoughts racing through my head. Sometimes I worry if I'll be a good mom too, then there are time I think it will be easier somehow. Kids don't have any expectations of what or how you should be. FH on the other hand, knows exactly who you are, and can still push your buttons...

Re: Anyone else nervous about marriage?
FH and I recently had this conversation. I brought the topic up by saying 'u know, we are entering into an institution that has over a 60% failure rate, what’s going to make us different' (subtle I am not)
When people married a long time ago, the average life expectancy was around 50, so to get married at 25, no biggie...people live till 80 and beyond now, that’s an AWFUL LONG time with one person....so yes, def, keeping it 'fresh” and new and more importantly “strong” is a concern. We both agree communication and honesty are HUGE factors, but the reason why I’m not scared, is that as cliche as this sounds, he is my best friend, and I have never gotten 'tired' of any of my friends...also, we both are ready and WANT, not just each other but the relationship, to be a success.
I think its normal to have fears, we are human, but to make decision out of fear, would lead to a very lonely life….Sometimes u just gotta say “f&*^% it!”
I hope every couple on here is rolling around in the sheets at 80!!!!

Re: Anyone else nervous about marriage?
I didn't worry about us being us forever. I did/do worry about money and providing for our children and being able to one day hopefully buy a house. Etc. Things like that. But it makes me feel a bit better knowing we are worrying about it together.
