The 30th works well for me too! I'll bring my digital camera so we can post pics

Re: DC Get-together!

Positano is on the Amalfi Coast. It's our first stop on our honeymoon.

And it also sounds like a good place to eat. If Thurs 1/30 works for everyone, and we get a # of people coming, I'd be happy to make a reservation.

I've gotta get off the boards for today...Annie, you're right, they are VERY addictive! And I need to get some work done today!

The Amalfi coast! I'm so jealous! The 30th sounds good to me. And I should get back to work too!

Oh my gosh, this IS addicting. this is like the 4th time i have hoped on, and i am not really slow at work! oh well, i am so glad that i posted this! and so glad that there are several of us.

I think the 30th would be great. hopefully my calendar will stay clear. I would love something in Bethesda (all of the places mentioned sound great!). Is that going to be an okay meeting place for everyone? Alison, it sounds like you are out in VA now, you sure you don't mind hiking up here?

i will try to remember the digital camera too! this will be great! when we get closer, we'll do a final count!

PS - the Amalfi coast (that is me drooling ;)

I am bumping this for the DC brides!

Are we still getting together on the 30th?

Hope you all had a great holiday. I was in LI for a whole week and it was great. I miss Roosevelt Field Mall!

I'm still good for the 30th. I was home for Christmas too. I bought a deli sandwich and some Italian rainbow cookies to take on the hellish car ride back to VA. That was the only thing that kept me sane! Traffic all the way from the Belt pkwy to exit 7 on the Jersey Turnpike. Grrrrr!!!!!!!!

Hello ladies, sorry for being WAY late to the DC party I am planning from the DC metro area as well. I live in northern VA and work in DC. I would love to get together with all of you, it sounds really fun. Unfortunately I will not be able to make it on the 30th, I'll be up in NY for Dad's retirement party. Anniegrl, you'll have to give me all the updates/info. since you happen to be my best friend as well Hopefully this get together will go so well there'll be another one!

Yeah! There are a lot of us! We need to set up our GTG (hows that for LIWeddings lingo). Are we still on for Jan. 30? Not sure when Alison returns from England, and she was th brains behind the operation. But I do think the 30th was our date. Looking forward to it!

Oops, i had the wrong date there the first time. Edited to change to Jan. 30.

Re: DC Get-together!

I can make Jan. 30th. If we do it after work sometime that's a Thursday right? A couple of people live near B-more so I guess a happy hour in DC would be out of the question.

Re: DC Get-together!

Hi...I'm back from England now...got back Friday to the sad news that my dad had a seizure and was sent to the hospital. He had some minor surgery yesterday so we made the decision to come back to DC today...took 7+ hours in the snow. Ugh. Needless to say, I'm a bit harried right now and may be off the boards for a bit while I pull myself together to go back to work tomorrow, etc, etc. However, I had talked to LI Weddings and told them about our GTG plans for Positano in Bethesda on Thurs 1/30, so they might be able to help publicize it on the boards for other Balt/DC brides who haven't yet found this thread. Meanwhile, if we can start to get a count of how many people could make it, I can at least make a reservation or something. JoRo, maybe you can give me an update in a few days? Thanks, Alison

Re: DC Get-together!

Alison, I'm so sorry to hear about your Dad. Coming back to news like that probably makes you need another vacation. I will keep my fingers crossed that he is doing ok!!

Looking forward to the 30th! Have we figured out a time yet? I'm coming from Baltimore, but right in the city, so it shouldn't take me all that long to get there...

Oh Alison, I am so sorry about your dad. you must be exhausted. I will be thinking about you all day and sending you positive thoughts! I hope everything clears up soon. Gosh, i am just so sorry.

Don't worry about anything. I will try to get a count and figure it all out for our GTG. Thanks for talking to LIWeddings for us! Please take care,

Alison! What great news! I am so happy to hear that your Dad has been released from the hospital! Is the outlook good? How is he feeling?? How are YOU doing?? It is really hard to be far away in a situation like this, I've been there too.

Hang in there!!

Re: Good news!

It's hard to say. He seemed ok when I spoke to him. And I know my mom is relieved he's home now. But it took some time before anyone could say what had been wrong. Apparently, the closest the doctors could come to pinpointing what happened was that it was an arrythmia and that the medication he had been on to lower his high blood pressure was actually hurting him by slowing his heart down too much, to the point that it was stopping for 1/2 minute at a time. Very scary.

As for me, I'm ok, but I am still really exhausted. And I can't seem to shake the feeling there is something else wrong... Trying to decide whether or not to make the trip back up to NY this weekend.

Thanks for all your concern and well wishes. -Alison
