I live in New Hyde Park -- near the Queens border. My mom and I noticed that smell too, but couldn't figure out what it was or where it was coming from.

I also smelled it in Nassau this morning when i left for work? So, weird I thought there was a fire somewhere? But I work about 1/2 hour from where i live and still smelled it there too?

I didn't notice the smell, I'm oblivious. But FH told me that his firehouse had to go to Staten Island today because there was bad fire there...maybe it's that?

OMG me too!!! I live in Astoria, Queens. I always get nervous when I smell something burning because I have a horrible fear of fire. I searched the entire house making sure it wasnt coming from there. But it also smells at work.. I wonder what it is!!!

I wonder if the fire in staten island was the smell? Maybe with the low clouds the smell stayed in the clouds?
