Anyone else's guy just totally clueless and unimaginative when it comes to gift giving?

I just opened up my garage door for the tile guy and right there is my TIVO! I am so disappointed now that I've seen it. What the hell is he thinking leaving it out in the open like that? I put sooo much thought and effort into his gifts and he just asks me for a list and follows it to the letter.

Mine is the WORST. He can't think of anything on his own. I always go with him and pick the nice stuff out and he buys it for me. Then I tell him to go out on his own and 'surprise' me with a few cheaper gifts. Last year he 'surprised' me with 2 picture frames and THE CLOROX READY MOP!!! I think I have you all beat

He tries - but I have learned not to expect much. We will see what this year brings.

this year will be great...b/c I went to the mall with John and we bought my gifts together...i even had them wrapped for him...

He came home once - right before the wedding - with a surprise gift for me... a padded desk with light that you can use in bed...I never do any work in bed...??? then he says...I thought it would be good when you have to write all our thank yous!!!!

he's good at hiding, and hardley asks what I want.
Too bad he's unimaginative in the romance department.

He's learned too...no skimpy VS bras (my cha-cha's don't fit into those tiny strappy things)
He's got god taste in clothes, perfume, etc.

Oh forget it! Bang my husband over the head with a pot and he still won't remember what I want. He gets me what he thinks I want. If anyone needs scarves or gloves let me know because I have at least 20 pairs of each and in every imaginable color and style. I don't even wear scarves! Hello might you have noticed that at anytime during the last 7 years?

I used to hint and now I just tell him and I still don't get the stuff I ask for. I have given up. There isn't much you can do once they are set in their ways.

I think my DH is sooo much better at getting me nice gifts than I am when it comes to him. I feel so bad because in most cases it's the other way around! I am the worst shopper in the world!!!

My hubby never knows what to get me. I tell him to THINK!!! It also doesn't help at all that I don't know what I want. He needs to pick up on things throughout the year, or be more creative.

Ok our first christmas together (5 years ago) is already a legend in our family. While I got him about 7 well though out gifts, plus a big gift, plus a stocking...I got from him, the worst gifts imaginable! LOL

He got me a winnie the pooh hat which was made for kids so didnt even fit my head, not one but two of the same vest from footlocker because they were buy one get the other half off AND he wrapped them seperately and a pendant that I had already had...THE EXACT SAME ONE...that he questioned me about only 2 weeks prior to christmas! It was the worst...Im not the type of person who usually cares about stuff like that but I couldnt get over how he put no thought into anything he had gotten me!

This year, we all went to the mall and split up. He was shopping with my brother and ran into my mom...mom asked him what he was doing, if he had gotten anything for me, and he proceeded to tell her he has no idea what to get and picked up one of those childrens home depot saws and walk around the toy store playing with it like he didnt have a care in the world! UGHHHHHHHH

I have to admit though, 2 years ago he bought me a beautiful leather coat and he put it in the box of a little green steamer making me think thats what I got...I was so angry as I was opening it, WTF was I going to do with the little green steamer (which I now love by the way, he had bought it for himself LOL)..but when I opened the box..my leather was in there....That was a good one but I am convinced someone gave him that idea! LOL

DH tried one Christmas to buy me gifts and I ended up exchanging almost everything, so now he doesn't even try.
I actually buy all my own presents and he's responsible for buying a card and writing something mush and thoughtful enough so that I cry. It's the best of both worlds. I get what I want and he throws in the 'emotional' part of it.

I'm right up there with you in the 'Worst Shopper' catagory beachgirl!! DH is always soo thoughtful and I feel like I never know what to get for him - or anyone for that matter. I make him shop for everyone else with me!! And a lot of what I get him ends up being stuff he sort of requests - 'Oh, you know what you could get me ...' He actually does that all year round I think cause he knows what a problem I have with shopping, so if I'd just pay attention...
I consider myself VERY LUCKY!!

I'm with Beachgirl & Oneday. I'm very fortunate to have an imaginative DH. He always gets me awesome gifts and even when I have an idea of what he's getting me, he still manages to surprise me!! I'm the sucky shopper/gift giver! (but then again, he's one of those guys that buys what he wants, when he wants it. That leaves me with socks & underwear. )
