I went to the dentist yesterday and I need one tooth pulled and one root canal!!! I am terrified!!!!!
Is it really bad?????

i have never had a root canal, but getting a tooth pulled is not bad at all.
and this is coming from someone who HATES any dentist. I have kicked one and bitten on before.

I have not, but Donnie did and he said he did not feel a thing. Just a little painful that night and the next day or so, but they usually give you pain killers.

I never had a root canal but I did get my 4 wisdom teeth pulled at once which were impacted and I was okay, wasn't in too much pain. Good Luck!!!!!

i've had all my teeth pulled out except 6 teeth in my mouth.....my mouth was a mess of messes. It isn't that bad. Just ask for novicane and sweetair...or whatever you get.
Sorry, don't know about the root canal...

Thanks girlies.. I have had a root canal before and it wasnt so bad.. its the tooth pulling thing that is making me sick to my stomach!!! i heard some horror stories in the past. I hope I found a good dentist. i am going to a new dentist now.. the last one I hated!!

yep, all but 6!!!! I even had 4 eye teeth and that little tooth next to the eyeteeth out one time. 5 at one time, and those eye teeth are big suckers!!

I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth pulled at once. It wasn't bad. I didn't even really need pain killers. The only thing, the whole right side of my face got all swollen. It was pretty bad. My brother told me I looked like Monica on Friends when she wore the fat suit

Not that bad. I had them sometimes if the stitches are too tight but you may not even need that. You will be fine.

Had a root canal twice and both times I didn't feel a thing but was in alot of pain afterwards. They should give you some pain medicine to ease the pain. I HATE THE DENTIST!!!!

I have had a root canal and a tooth pulled. It will be fine. Make sure you take a painkiller as soon as the novaicane wears off and you will be fine!

I've had several since I wore braces. As huge as my teeth are and my jaw is tiny so I only have 24 teeth in my mouth now. It hurts a lot but with good pain killers it's ok. You'll definitely lose weight depending on where the tooth is because you'll mostly eat soft foods like mashed potatoes or soup for a week or so.

Having teeth pulled doesn't always have to do with cavities. NONE of my teeth were removed because of cavities, mine were due to crowding.

Oh yes, but I can promise you that it doesn't hurt as much as you think because you've been given novacane. My advice is to also get the sweet air because it dulls your other senses. My other pieces of advice are these:
1) Ask the dentist to hook you up with a pain killer before you leave the office!! The dentist should have codine or something like it there . This way, you dont have to go to CVS right after and it kicks in before the novacane wears off; and, (2) the biggie, wear ear plugs! Why? Becuase you can hear some noises that are not so nice (I will leave out the details). Again, you cannot feel a thing, but that sound freaked me out.
