my point was not about being friends with the 300 people at the party, but its the fact that some people get so much support and other just don't get any and I am viocing my opinion that its not nice. I try to support many posts from different girls, yet none of them reciprocate.

i'm sorry you feel that way

most of the the time i don't feel my responses would provide any value, but I just wanted to let you know that I care!

Re: anyone feel like they don't know anyone on these boards?

I'm hardly ever here anymore and the boards have been either completely dead or drama-filled so I have stopped reading most of the posts.

I have also been here a long time, 3 1/2 years, and until this spring my posts were pretty much ignored too, with the exception of a couple of ladies. As a matter of fact I was gone for almost 9 months, but came back when I was home on bedrest and had nothing else to do and not one person even noticed that I had left.

I think that like anything involving a large group of people, you have those who are more involved and those who aren't. Had it not been for Jamie and Marni threatening my life (okay just a slight exaggeration) I would't have gone to the GTG at Marni's and I wouldn't have met so many terrific ladies. I have also been fortunate enough to meet Karen H for dinner one night and we are planning to do it again, if my home improvement stuff ever gets done .

I wouldn't take it to heart. I am sure that we have all had posts ignored or only briefly answered at one time or another!!!

I can relate Michelle! I am definitley more of a lurker than a poster, and I feel like an outsider alot too. I understand about the cliques, I've noticed them also. But I've found when I need help the most ( like tonite on BHB), people come through for me, and I sooo appreciate it! I try to answer when I feel I have something to contribute, and if I don't, it's certainly not personal. I think it's that way with most everyone here.

I'd love a Suffolk County GTG!!
Count me in!

for Michelle!

Sometimes I feel the same way too. That maybe I am just not intersting or something.
However, when I read other peoples threads it makes me feel good to see people being nice to each other and how well people can get along with one another.
I hope to make friends through here just as many of you have.

Mish..your post hit a nerve with me! I've felt the exact same way...until I met Suzanne!
This is why I've posted my wedding pictures like 6 times because no one knew anything about my wedding!
I'm not on here very much anymore but you and I spoke at Marni's and you're a lovely person! Anything you need support on, you can count on me!!

Mish - I can relate too! I've been on the boards for a few years, and yet sometimes I feel anonymous. My name never comes up on those posts where everyone's listing who's been helpful, or who's their board-buddy, etc.

It's not always easy to make the jump from casual acquaintence to friends and some things naturally make it easier - having children of a similar age, working nearby and meeting for lunch, etc. As Wendy said, we met for dinner one evening in early summer, and haven't been able to coordinate our schedules since! I think that those who have formed outside friendships are naturally drawn to check out their friends' posts, and some topics just hit home for more posters, and draw more responses. Even the time of day or night you post can have an effect since there are some who only access from home or work, not both.

I went to the GTG at Papa Joe's just for the chance to make some friends since I'm new to LI. I didn't grow up here, but DH's whole family is here and it seems like 90% of our social life is with his family or friends. I met some of the group there that I would like to get to know better, but it hasn't happened yet. I like the idea of a Suffolk GTG so I can meet some of the group from my area.

And Wendy - I did notice you had not been around and was really glad to see your return!!! I'd always thought you were someone I'd get along with outside the boards! Hope to see you again soon!

So here's a hug for Mish and one for all the others that feel like their on the outside looking in Here's to us all feeling like we're on the inside over the upcoming months.

I feel the same way. I've been on these boards for over three years and most of the time I feel invisible. I call myself the 'thread killer'. I post, the thread ends!
From Karen H...

Karen, I can SOOOOOOOOOOOOOO relate to that statement! There was a thread an the parenting board about who will get pg next, and a few girls mentioned my name. I was soooooooooo thrilled! It was the first time!

Mish

I understand about helping others and then not receiving it back. I guess I've been fortunate enough that I haven't experienced that yet personally. I'm sure it hurts your feelings to be kind to others and not get any support in return.

Hopefully I was not one of the ones who ignored you. Sorry if I did.
