I live in Queens! Try Cafe on the Green or you can try Villa Russo, the food there is gret and their palace room (100 minimum) is gorgeous. There's also Russo's or Roma View.

I suggest Cafe on the Green- they have great food. As far as photog & limos and other wedding necessites.. she may want to try Ariana Studios in New Hyde Park- it's located by the queens/nassau border & they provide everything wedding related. www.arianastudios.com

Re: Anyone getting married or live in Queens???
There's Cafe on the Green, Roma View and I'm getting married at Douglaston Manor next October. Their food was really good, I went to a bridal expo there.
She should check out wedding sites and services website. They can lists by region brooklyn/queens so she'll get an idea of prices, etc. It's a great site to view pics of places too.
When you say she's on a tight budget, what kind of prices is she looking at?

There are a 1000 American Legion post in Queens. Im on a super duper tight budget. and that's where Im having my reception and myabe the ceremony. They allow you to bring in your own food but you have to buy their liquor I belive. But i's very affordable. FM me if you need

Terrace on the Park has just been completely renovated. It was closed for over a year to do it. It looks beautiful. It is now owned by the same owners of VYC...so expect the same in food and decor

I visited Terrace on the Park before the renovations and it was beautiful even then. They allow you to pick whatever time you want your reception to start - the only drawback is that the ceremony is held in an 'auditorium' looking room downstairs. Hopefully this has changed - it is still worth looking at!
BTW, I was quoted $100 pp when I looked in March 05 for a June or July 06 wedding. This was for a Saturday night.

Re: Anyone getting married or live in Queens???
Thanks ladies. She's on a really really tight budget -- she's hoping to pay between $40 and $50 per plate. I'll have her check out a few places. I've heard the Cafe on the Green is nice. Anything else?

Villa Russo's comes to mind in that price range.
She can also try having her wedding on a weekday - a Thurs perhaps - to get better prices.

I don't know how much they cost but maybe she can look into the Douglaston Manor. Also there is a small place in Flushing called The Reception House.
My parents went to a wedding at Roma View and said it was one of the best weddings they've ever been to! Definitely worth checking out!

I'm getting married at Terrace on the Park. It's in March on a Saturday night, but still an off month so it's a little cheaper.
Maybe if she wants a Friday or a Thursday it will be less.
There's also Dante's in Jackson Heights.

I didn't like the auditorium either! They are letting us use one of the smaller ballrooms on the first floor for the ceremony, and it's great, because you can do anything you want with the decor.

I had a horrible experience with Dante's when I was searching. I ended up NOT going to see them because they had terrible customer service on the phone when I called to inquire about their hours and such. When I e-mailed the manager, he requested that I at least go in to talk to him directly, but I declined. My rationale was that that if you haven't even booked their place yet and they treat you rudely, then things can only go downhill from there. This was my experience. This is not to say that it will be like this for someone else. I am just merely stating it here so you can have a watchful eye.
One of the videographers that we interviewed did not have nice things to say about them either.
