See, but that is the problem with the other teams..they dont have the magic like the Yanks. It's not just about ability, its about heart and good coaching. The Yanks have it all -- including the greatest coach in Joe Torre. JMO, BUT Boston did not deserve to win because of that error in judgement.

A world series with the Yanks in it is not boring if youre a YANKEE FAN or even a New Yorker for that matter! NYC needs a win like this!

Melissa, really you don't have to defend who you cheer for...but, you also can't go around reciting statistics about champions of the past when you obviously weren't even a fan back then - to me, it just sounds like you are repeating some crappola that you heard someone else say - and IMO, tha't s the definition of a bandwagon fan. No big deal...I wouldn't get all bent about this!

Thank you Claud, for taking the high road on this, higher than the one I have taken. But, it infuriates me when people make blanket statements, make jabs, and try to blend in with the crowd...when their knowledge is minimal on the subject.

Mellissa, when you were 7, I was 12. I watched the Mets religiously that year with my father, and is one of the most cherished times of my life. So making a statement that you have more important memories is ingnorance at it's best.

I have been a METS fan all my life, and last night I rooted my heart out for the Yankees. I am definitely a New York FAN........
I can't believe there is so much Mets vs. Yankees talk here when there's not a Subway Series going on.

If the Mets play vs. the Yankees, I root for the Mets.
WHen the Yankees play against anyone but the mets, I root for the Yankees.

I feel that as long as ONE New York team wins, we're all winners.

The Yanks work very hard, and as a result are going to the World Series as proof of their hard work and talent.

I am a lifelong Yankee fan and have to say that you get used to people hating the Yankees. Any team that is successful year after year is bound to breed jealously, resentment and envy.

Why do the Yankees win so much? Some people say it's the money. Yes the Yankees have a huge payroll now but that was not the case in the 20's, 30's, 40's and 50's when this team was wildly successful including winning the World Series 5 years in a row in the 50's. As for now? There are a lot of teams that have high payrolls too. The LA Dodgers had the 3rd highest payroll in baseball and they didn't even make the playoff's this year. The Anaheim Angels have one of the smallest payrolls in baseball and they won the World Series last year! I would say that blows the money argument right out of the water!

The difference with the Yankees is about wanting to win and believing that you can. It's about going about your business and doing your best day in and day out. It's about an owner and a front office that cares about winning and is willing to do what it takes to get there. It's about putting together a group of veterans and young players who understand that working together as a team takes precedence over individual acheivement. Those who complain usually find themselves playing elsewhere because they take away from the idea that the team is greater than anyone individual player. And you know what???

There isn't anything wrong with that! No one wins because they deserve to. That is not what this is about. It's about playing hard, taking advantage of opportunities and mistakes, performing under pressure and above all, yes it is about winning! I don't think anyone goes out there to lose, do you?

So hate away. I will love my team when they win and when they lose. I proudly say that I am a Yankee fan thru and thru!!!!

Why do they always have to win??? To me I think a team like that cubs deserved to win the world series or Florida. These are teams that havent one in years and years.

I have to say as other have also though that if the Yankees were not in the series and the Mets were I would be routing for the Mets b/c they are a NY team.

I honestly don't understand why you would want the Marlins to win unless you are from Florida and have been a Marling fan all along.
