FH and I have small families (neither of is have siblings) and we aren't extremely close with co-workers or acquaintances to have them on our guest list.
We plan on inviting at least 60 people to meet our minimum of 50 guests. The more people come, the more expensive it gets...I love small intimate weddings - it makes the day seem more special somehow.
totally agree.. and def no co-workers ..although i have a few who have invite themselves... hahahaha i guess the missed the memo on the recession

I had about 75 people and it was perfect. I didn't need to invite everyone under the sun to make it a good and fun day.

Our min is 50. We are inviting close to 100. Having a small wedding is still a lot of work-because you have to do mostly everything that a larger wedding does.

Hopefully no more than 110 people...neither FH nor I wanted to be meeting people for the first time on our wedding day.

Min is 60...but I am anticipating total will be more like 70-75...cant invite more than 96 cause that is the max my room can hold and I think it would be ridiculously packed with that many anyway. It is not an option to me to switch to a bigger room either.

Did you ladies intentionally decide to have a small wedding??
How are you planning on cutting your guestlist? I know many will be offended but @ the end of the day, its me and the FH.... not 200+ folks
We intentionally planned a 'small wedding'
1. We both have small families 2. Didn't invite everyone and their momma 3. Our parents only asked us to invite there 2 best friends
We are paying for the entire thing so we have the only say on who is invited...I can't imagine spending my day with people I barely know or haven't seen in 546852145824 years
Plus I love small and intimate..I can really enjoy my day

We're inviting about 110. My minimum is 75. I would be happy with 85-90 people!

We're inviting 40.
We chose to give our close family and friends the best treatment we could afford, at a place we feel represents us the most, rather than have a big wedding where we can invite everyone we know (and probably most of whom we won't even speak to in 5 years from now) at a place which isn't really what we want.
Personally, a wedding is the most personal & intimate moments in a person's life. Why should we invite people who we aren't close with? So they can be bored at the service?... So they can be critical of everything? I have been to enough weddings where I was shocked to hear bridesmaids and guests making rude and catty comments about the bride and the wedding in the bathrooms. No thanks... only the MOST important people to me will have the privilege of attending!
We consider our wedding a large elopement and for the guests that are not invited, we will have a party another time... so everyone can still be included.

We're having a small wedding also. We're inviting about 120 with a minimum of 110. I'm not really sure we'll even meet the minimum. We both have small families, and we don't want to invite people that are just acquaintances. I couldn't imagine having a large wedding at this point. I like knowing it's going to be an intimate affair.
