I didn't. I don't see the point in them. People are already giving you cards.

I agree - I didn't.

in the chinese wedding tradition there's suppose to be a red banner on the table. this banner is a really thin fabric.. silk or silk-like and with both a pheonix and dragon on it. guests sign that cloth.

i didn't really like that idea.. nor did i like the guestbook. i barely have enough room in my apartment as it is and if i can do w/o that stuff even better for me. just no need for it, IMO. some of my fam members were a lil upset with taht.. o well. instead, to appease them, i had cards teh size of index cards for teh guests to sign in. i only kept the ones i liked and threw the rest away. i'm not that sentimental i guess.

I didn't, I did not know what I would do with it afterwards.

i didn't do one, but I did do the signing platter. We definitely didn't get everyone's signature on it, but it doesn't bother us. We brought the platter to our RD so that at the very least our bridal party signed and then everyone else was filler. I don't really see the point of a book....I can at least use my platter!

We didn't have one and I don't regret that at all.
We did however have our closest friends and family sign a plate at the RD that we have displayed on our kitchen wall.

we didn't do one either. what's the point in just having everyone's name in a book? to me, it reminds me too much of when you go to a funeral and sign in--i mean that is so you can thank you people. but @ a wedding, you'll have all the cards and plus you have their names and addresses already! JHMO

I saw someone use a guest plate. They had an unfinished cremic plate, and everyone signed it with a gold marker that writes with paint. hey it worked and it looked nice.

I'm not doing one either. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen one at a wedding I've attended.

I was going to say this too, but was afraid I'd get flamed.....

I had one, and don't know why. NOBODY signed it!
My mother was bugging people before they left to write something in it. So, we only have a handful. I think it was a waste!

Re: Anyone NOT doing a guestbook?

I'm not -for all the reasons listed above. I had one woman tell me how horrible she thought it would be if I didn't have a guest book... how she loved her guest book so much-and how people commented on it (yeah, a guest book!!) ..and how she couldn't image her wedding without one.... So I said, 'Where is it now?' --Thinking if it was THAT great, she should have it displayed... and she said, 'Oh... it's in a box in my closet.'

I am so glad that you guys posted on this issue. I've been having a hard time finding a guest book that I liked, and it's probably because I really don't want to have one- but felt that I had to have one.

I'm having about 100 or so guests and I feel like I'll see everyone, so why have a list of names, right?

Wheww... one last thing to worry about! Thanks girls!

I don't think we're going to have one. We're doing a wish bowl instead, so they can just sign something there if they want. Then I'll put them in an album with some pics. Honestly, I don't think I even remember there being a guest book at the weddings I've been to. Better off, I really can't find one I love.

Not doing it.
I don't see the point.
Who wants to be bothered with writing a message after writing one in the card?

Another thing for me to worry about, no thanks.
