Anyone not getting a video?

My FH thinks that we don't need a video. I'm not sure what I think about this. I didn't think we needed one either until I saw Wild Rose's website! I guees I could do without it, but I don't want to regret anything. What is everyone else doing?

I was the same as you. My Fh and I were totally against getting a video but everyone told me that I would regret it. I went Bellarino b/c their prices were excellent and I have only heard great things about. Do a search on Bellarino.

We got a video because after the wedding's over,you'll be able to see everything all over again.What a beautiful memory to be captured on video. I think its worth it.

It is completely your choice but I do think video is very, very important. On my wedding day, everything seemed to pass by so fast as I'm sure it does for most brides. My video captured every moment and I was so thankful. There are some reasonable packages out there....even if you just tape and keep the raw footage...you can one day show your kids how happy you were on your special day.

I am not getting a video. I'm sure it would be great to look back, but I cannot deal with the lights and people in your face. I know not all places are like that, but even when I see a camera I run the other way! Also, my wedding is at night and candle lit & they'd have to use a light and they'd ruin the ambiance I'm trying so hard to develop!

I want to say this in all seriousness to you. Here is my take on the video thing:

If you miss the video aspect of the day, you can never get that back.... You don't want to regret it. However, let's say you get it and you are uncomfortable with it later on- seeing loved ones and stuff or yourself on camera, then put it away and don't bring it out. But with the dvd technol. out today, DVD will last 100 years!!! Blockbuster is even converting to all DVD in the next three years!!!

It will be a wonderful present for your children and grandchildren many years from now. My parents married in 1972 and I still have the video footage from beta and super 8. I can't hear the sound but I can see them. It makes me laugh to see the same gestures and the happiness that started it all. Also, their photographer was horrible so this was the backup.

Do yourself a favor, IMO, and get the video.

I decided no video a while ago and now I regret it!! I don't know if I could get one still being that my wedding is only 3 months away. I would suggest that you go for it. I wish I would have listened to everyone when they told me that.

if you don't want to a video with all the special effects and editiong than ask the videographer for just a tape of the raw footage. At least you have your special day documented

I felt the same way, but went to see Wild Rose. I had thought that I would just maybe get raw footage, but when I saw how it would come out I decided to go with a regualr video. You might regret not having one. If I was you, I would just go see Wild Rose and make your decision after that of whether you want one or not. I will tell you that they are the nicest people ever! I am sure my video will be nothing less than beautiful!

Our videographer was excellent.You didn't even know he was there.

I think you should get it. We were considering not doing it also, but got so much advice as to why we should. There are going to be tons of things you will miss on your wedding day when you are wrapped up in the hectic things. And if you are worried about intrusiveness, look into a videographer that specializes in digital taping. Digital taping doesn't require nearly the same amount of light that old fashioned taping does. Our videographer has one small light at the top of his camera and uses objects to block himself during the ceremony so that he's not in everyone's way.

On a bit of a poor note, and I'm sorry in advance to put a damper on this topic. (I hope this will never be the case for any of you or for myself) a video can do something that nothing else can do for you on your wedding day...should anything go wrong, you could very well have it right there on video in case you need it.

im not getting a video, dont know if i will regret it, but i am going to have someone video for me like the first dance and some important moments. so i will have the raw stuff to watch if i want to.

I suggest to get the video as well! Yes you will have pics, but the fun things are on the video! You might regret it, you might not. IMO, I wouldn't chance it.

If you are concerned about lights flashing in your face, I wouldn't be. Videographers today have the technology to be so discreet you don't even know they are there!

Whatever decision and your FH make, I'm sure will be the right one!

IMO, if you have to cut corners on everything else, do so but do not pass on the video....i didn't cry once on my wedding day, but i cried a river afterwards when i saw everything on video...it is irreplacable..

If you have even the slightest chance of regretting not getting it, get it! I absolutely hate video cameras (low light or not) and I barely noticed my videographers (the very spectacular Wild Rose) were there. Im sooo happy I decided to go against my gut instinct and get that video.

We did not get a video, we've been married for 6 months and so far do not regret it. IMO, the photographs we have capture our day better than any video could have and that's enough for me. Who knows, maybe later I'll wish I had one, but we're fine without one. If you can afford it, get one.

I agree about the lighting, but solved the problem. My wedding is sort of in the dark and romantic and I was concerned about heavy lighting that will be intrusive and ruin the ambiance. When I brought that up to Wild Rose, they said the darker lighting could actually be better.... I won't even know they are around!!! I think I am looking forward to the video more than the photos. LOL!!!
