We plan on getting ours this weekend, but it just seems like a lot of $$ to spend on something we will use for all of 5 min. We already decided not to get a guest book since most people don't even sign them. Would it look bad if we just used what the RH gives us?

we put ours on our registry...i know you thinks yours is soon but i would put it on right away, many ppl wait until the week of the shower to buy something

Im with you!! Im going to use the ones the RH gives us. I registered for cake cutter and knife and I already got it so Ill use that the day of the wedding.
No one will notice that you are using the RHs flutes and Cake cutter and knife set!!!!

we got flutes that we really liked and had wanted but saw no use for, for like $7 each instead of spending the money on the expensive ones we wanted. The ones we got are not 'wedding flutes' by any means but we love them.
We're not buying a cake cutting set, the hall is providing ours.

I'm not. I registered for toasting flutes and we didn't get them. I don't mind using the catering halls'. It would've been nice to have them, but I'm not spending my own money on them.

We registered for our flutes and i figured we will use them each anniversary. The cake knife, i found a waterford one on sale at bed bath so i picked it up myself. I like the whole idea of taking pro pics holding the champagne and a pic of cutting the cake.

We're not buying them - personally its money id rather spend on something else. Im not one for saving things as momentos so for me its a waste!
PS - i had them at my first wedding - and nobody saw the flutes and cake cutters up close and hardly anyone signed the guest book.

Nope, we're using whatever cake cutting set that the hall provides.
We have cheap plastic margarita glasses from when we got engaged and we're using those for our toasting flutes.

For the flutes, we registerd for crystal, including flutes. I can just use those, right? I love them. The only flutes I saw that I really like for the wedding are $150 for the set, they're purple Waterford flutes and i'm a purple freak but I know we'll never use them again.
i really only want them for the pics. when i look at pics, you def see the flutes more than the cake cutting set. maybe we'll register for extra flutes, or a set we can both agree on. i think we'll forgo the cake cutting set. when i look at pics, i don't really notice them. decisions decisions!

Those are BEAUTIFUL! I love those flutes!! I want them too and I don't even like purple!

We got our flutes already since we got a ton of gift cards at our eparty. We won't be getting a cake cutting set or a guest book. We will do a photomat though!

We got ours as an engagement gift- but if we hadn't I would have gone to the Lenox store in Woodbury Commons Outlets (not sure if Tanger has one) and bought one there- they are super cheap and just what they call seconds (meaning they have a minor flaw that only they would notice) hth

I never even thought about this, maybe I will register for them, or should ask the hall if they provide them, although I would rather have them for keepsake after so I guess I will add them to my registry!
