It's October and we're supposed to plant all of our bulbs for spring! I'm going to be in the dirt all day tomorrow I'm planting my daffodils & tulips. Hopefully they'll be up & beautiful for my wedding!

I am I am I have tons of bulbs to plant. I bought about 50 assorted tulips and a bunch of dafs plus I have a bag full of assorted bulbs that never got planted in my old garden. I hope to get going on it this weekend.

We just purchases our home. We had all intentions of moving in this weekend the 11th & 12th, but Closing was pushed back a week. So now we will not be getting into the house until Oct 19th. I had purchased a few bags of tulips that I wanted to get in the ground. Do you think it will be to late in the month to still plant? When is really the cut off time to plant bulbs?? (first frost, or later?) I never have done this before, so your suggestions are greatly appriciated. Also, how deep in the ground should they be planted?? I have heard 6 ', is this true? Thanks

I was so looking forward to planting bulbs this fall. I bought around 70 hoping to I would put them in front of my DH's house after I move in. But now it turns out the small spot of ground he has (Bronx), is already occupied by two big hydrangea bushes. It's also a North exposure, so there's very little light. I'm SO disappointed. Don't know what I'll do with all my bulbs. Probably give them to my mom.

Karen - you could plant the bulbs in containers to force them for indoor flowering in the spring.

I just got some tulip bulbs from Lowes. They run between 3.97-6.97 a bag.

Karen H, that's true. I never thought of that. Although my DH's house is very dark inside. I don't think they would even get enough light to grow in the house. Maybe I can try some of them in containers, and give the rest to my mom or sister.

I got my bulbs at the Christmas tree shop. I love that store, they have everything and cheap. It cost $3 for a bag of 50 bulbs. I found the answer to my own ? in regards to when to plant. You can plant up until late Nov, as long as the ground isn't frozen.
