Anyone proposed after you, getting married before you?
My FBIL proposed in November, 3 months after us. They decide they're getting married after us in late '07 or '08. Turns out, they change their minds They moved it up to March '07....3 months later! Mind you, when my FH proposed in August, we wanted to marry in March and everyone thought is was too soon, so we delayed it until July!!!! Now, no1 seems to have a problem w/ that date! I guess that's what happens when I too am getting married a month before my own sister and she's had her date for 2 years now. OH Well........that's familly for you!

Fairly unlikely, considering we're getting married only seven months after the proposal! OK, I take that back, my cousin found out she was pregnant after we got engaged and they're getting married, but they're not having a wedding, they're just going to the courthouse.

I was engaged 2 days after my cousin and I am getting married 2 weeks before her. But she's 21 and I'm 29. I've been waiting a LOOOONG time for this!

i know how you feel!!
It bothers me that my first cousin got engaged three months after me and she is having her wedding 2 weeks before mine!!! She knew what my date was for four months then announced hers, i was like why are you having your wedding the same month as mine pick another month! that i just dont get it? She said it was the 'only' time that works for her and she doesnt see why im so upset with her. Some people just dont get it!

My best friend is getting married 3 months before me, but we just joke around about sharing our 'wedding thunder' Anyone else though would make me really unhappy.

omg that's awful! Why would they do that? Didn't they realize they wouldn't be able to come to your wedding, and you couldn't go to theirs?! That would really make me mad. But as long as someone picked a date that was at least a week away from my own, I don't think it would bother me.

we have a different scenario - we've been together longer, by 1 yr and his friend proposed (though they've had some rough times since) and i was upset but then he proposed to me 6 mos later and we picked everything right away but his friend is dragging his feet cause he doesnt want to go through w/it - or so it seems to me...hmmmm

I thought I was the only one!!!! Our engagement will be 2.5 years once we get married. FHs cousing JUST got engaged this past august and is getting married at the end of March or APril...a month or two before ours.
Its okay though. Ive already dealt with my 'wanting to strangle her' phase...now I just hope all her flowers die

Same here...one of my BMs got engaged almost 6 months after me, but is getting married a little over a month before me....I don't mind though....she asked me if I would mind before they picked there date and I would never have made them wait a whole year when they were dead set on a summer wedding....

Re: Anyone proposed after you, getting married before you?
I have just NEVER been able to understand why this should matter to anybody... what difference does it make?
I mean, certainly I'd be upset if somebody chose the same date, since then obviously it's tough for people to come to both weddings, or even maybe the same weekend, again for the same reason - that would be a busy weekend! But just simply for getting married before you? Or even within a few weeks or even months of you? What difference does it make? How does it hurt or even affect you in any way? I just don't get it!
FH's cousin is getting married the week before us. We were engaged for probably a good year before they were, and picked our date first... but it doesn't affect me in any way. What's the big deal? The biggest problem is really theirs - they've got to come back from the honeymoon in time for our wedding! Other than having another party to go to, it doesn't affect me at all!

Re: Anyone proposed after you, getting married before you?
I am the family member who got engaged after (about 2 months) and married before (about 5 months). We had a 15 month engagement.
We had an idea of what we wanted, a winter wedding. I asked my cousin's fiance when she was thinking and she said May '07. I didn't want to wait over 2 years, DH and I are 32 and 31, so we got married after a 15 month engagement.
People have their reasons when they pick their dates and they aren't doing it to spite you! I would only be mad if a family member got engaged after me and got married before me at the same place I had already chosen.

Re: Anyone proposed after you, getting married before you?
My cousin did that. She booked the hall and date knowing i wanted an October wedding and take note she didn't even have a ring on her finger yet!!!!
So now our wedddings are 19 days apart.

Re: Anyone proposed after you, getting married before you?
I'm actually guilty of this but it wasn't done on purpose. My cousing got engaged about 6 months before me. She is getting married in October. I got engaged, we set a date 6 months later, in February (2 weeks from now) We didn't want a long engagement. I'm also 33 and she is 23. WHen people reach a certain age, they usually don't want long engagements. I thought 6 months was too long, quite actually. For her, at 23, I think it is appropriate and necessary. An engagement serves a purpose....not in all cases, but in many, a long engagement is necessary if you're that young, haven't had several past relationships.
