Anyone skipping videography?

Re: Anyone skipping videography?

More than likely will we not be getting a videographer for a few reasons
1. Budget-we have to cut back where we can and video was one of our least priorities. FH and I are paying for the entire wedding.
2. I have been in a dozen bridal parties and all of the couples that had one watched it once with the bridal party when they got it and they all admitt now that it collects dust on a shelf
3. I am a big fan of still photography and would rather invest in a great photography package.

If we get closer in and notice we can afford it or someone in our family is willing to pay for it we will reconsider.

FH and I where considering not having one because we where going over our inital budget...but then everyone was telling us we should just have one so that we dont miss a beat...so finally we have decided to have one.
We did alot of shopping around and got a really good deal....alot less $$$ then we expected to have to pay.

I think you should go with one, there are just some things the photographer might miss and somethings that will only be good remembered on video.

We were not going to get one and then about 2 weeks before the wedding I convinced FH to do it. I got some quotes and you can get anything from $400 up.
We too have been to weddings with very annoying videographers but ours was not in the way at ALL and I kept forgetting he was even there. FH was worried about the lighting - it was not an issue at all. I never mentioned to my photographer that we were getting video until the day of b/c we had booked it literally the week of. They ended up knowing each other and seemed to work pretty well together.
We also swore videos were a waste of money and that we would never watch one but I am SO glad we did it, b/c now, not even 2 weeks after our wedding the night is a blur and I remember very little of it. I am really looking forward to seeing our video!
I think it is a personal choice, but if you are unsure, I would recommend doing it.

that's the one thing i won't cut out--it's only costing me $1050 and it will be a complete memory of my day and all the things i missed or forgot. IMO, it's as necessary as photos.

We have a video camera that we are setting up to record ourselves... not paying for it when we can do it that way, and we are on a really tight budget as is.

We skipped it...and now I really wish we had gotten one. Our photos tell the story beautifully, but still....we were lucky to have a friend who taped our ceremony...but now I want to see the rest of the day! IMO, go for it; I wish we had.

We skipped it and I don't regret it. My father had his videocamera, so did a close friend, and they both captured all the important moments.

I hate myself on video, so I wasn't about to spend $$ on something I would cringe at when watching....

my best friend didn't see the need for one at first, but then decided to add it on as she got closer to the wedding. Now she watches it CONSTANTLY.

I'm just afraid you might regret it if you don't get it. I'm spending 1600 for mine, which I think is nothing in the grand scheme of things. And you'll have it for life. Somebody once told me to not cut corners on the parts of the wedding that will last forever (photography, videography, etc.). I think that was good advice.

I agree!!!! That is where I spent more money on photos and video because it will be around forever. My parents eloped and they only have a few pics and they regret it and my FH's mom still has her album and we love pulling it out and looking at it- I wish she had a video but it wasnt around when she got married or I am sure we would watch it!!
