My dr said its ok. But I just got a magazine that says its not.

I just bought some for dinner tonight. I've also eaten them before since I found out I was pregnant but that was because my dr said they were fine. I don't eat them often.

I think the reason they worry about hot dogs is for bacteria reasons. Same thing with cold cuts. But seems like if you cook the hot dog yourself and are sure it is hot all the way through the chances of getting food poisoning are small. Correct me about the bacteria thing if I am wrong.
Hot dogs are the only thing I craved the whole pregnancy- and I am a vegetarian practically. Hadn't had a hot dog in 15 years but I ate 2 REALLY good ones in the beginning of the pregnancy and I loved every bite.

I dont know for sure -- but I do know that I lived on Subway and Blimpie when I was pregnant ! The salt in the cold cuts tasted so good ! Then I heard you were not supposed to eat them -- but it was too late -- I had already eaten all the cold cuts in the tri state area!

Ive always heard they are a 'no-no'. But Ive seen several preggo friends eat them to their hearts content and there are things that each doctor can be more strict or more lenient on.
I was also alot more 'Strict' with things in my first pregnancy.
Yes, its the bacteria (Listeria) in both hot dogs and cold cuts that they are concerned about. My Dr this time around told me to just make sure its a busy high-turnaround deli, and the cold cuts should be fine. and then another Dr said not to have too much... Just use your best judgement, one or 2 cant hurt

I also heard that hot dogs and other processed foods contain nitrites that cause cancer.
