Are you asking your BMs to all buy the same shoe?

This has become a hot topic in my family. Every wedding I have been in I have been asked to buy my own shoes. And I LOVE shoes so I did this without hesitation or question. My sister went through so much torture with 2 of her bridesmaids (one of which is my cousin - also one of MY bridesmaids) that she eventually gave up and let them buy whatever they wanted out of sheer frustration.

I really would not care except that I want the girls to wear tea-length dresses. Am I out of line to ask them to all buy the same shoe?

What is everyone doing?

For my wedding, I just asked them to wear the same color shoes. I wanted them to be comfortable.

It is your weddings and you should decide what you want. I have been in weddings where the bride has asked us to buy specific shoes and in others where we were able to choose our own.

I didn't tell my girls what shoe to buy, just that they be silver open toed sandals.
But I think with a shorter dress they should all have the same shoes. Both weddings I was in I was asked to get a certain pair of shoes that the bride had picked.

My girls are wearing Tea-Length dresses as well. The dress has a sash, which will be black, so it makes it easier for them to pick. I don't care what style shoe it is, as long as it's open toe and black. Those were the only guidelines I gave them.

thanks misstene! Can you tell me which dress they are wearing? designer/color etc.? I love to see what other tea-lenghs brides have in mind...

I actually sent them all an email regarding this topic this morning. I told them as long as they are dyable I dont care what they look like, granted they are long dresses. I think if I was having tea length I would want everyone in the same shoe.

I told my BMs to get whatever dyeable shoes they want and to have them dyed to match the gowns. IMO, it is really difficult to ask everyone to wear the same shoe. Not everyone can be comfortable in the same shoe! Maybe this is b/c my dad was in the shoe business, but I feel very strongly about not asking everyone to wear the same shoe. I know that I can't be comfortable in a lot of styles my friends wear and vice versa. One of my girls needed a shoe that came in a wide width. They are all wearing the same gowns, but I want them to be able to show their own style in some way, so I am fine with them choosing their own shoes, jewelry, hairstyle, etc.
