Just wondering.. we may be able to make it to our cocktail hour if we skip having a recieving line and shake a leg while taking photos.. part of me feeels like skipping the CH and entering the reception hall for the first time will be special and part of me feels like i would rather enjoy CH first even if when we enter the recreption hall we will have already seen everyone..
what are your thoughts?

I definatly want to go to mine!! I want to see all the beautiful displays. The ice sculptures, the carved things. I am so excited to see it all come together. My FH is Portuguese (his Dad was from there moved to the US when he was 15) anway our RH threw in this whole Portuguese station for us. FH and FFIL are so excited!

It changes everyday, but, as of right now, YES!!
ETA- My FH and I will NOT be doing a receving line after the ceremony, so we will greet everyone at CH, AFTER of course, we have stuffed our faces privately in the bridal suite. We are having an hr 1/2 CH.

I'm going to my CH. I've spent too much $$$ and waited too long for this day - I'm going to enjoy every minute of it! Also, it's a good way to start talking to people so you don't have to run around the entire reception.

this was the BEST decision DH and i made!!! we were able to say our hellos to almost EVERYONE at the CH so we didnt have to spend the whole reception walking around to every single table!!!!!

I went to the last 20 minutes of cocktail hour. I was very happy I did because I was able to greet all of my guests.

I'm up in the air with this question all the time.
On one hand i want to go and enjoy it and eat and say hello. On the other hand i REALLY believe that it takes away a little from the grand enterance. (not much of a grand enterance if everyone has all ready seen you, aside from the church of course)
Our pictures will be done before hand which was my main issue. Not even for me, but i want my bridal party to enjoy cocktail hour.
I'm ok with the bridal party and FH going to cocktail but i think i MIGHT not attend.
IMO, i'm going to have to go around to each table during the reception anyway to say hello so i won't miss anyone.
We'll see.. lol... i think it's going to be a game time decision.

go to your cocktail hour. You can talk to people then so you can relax more when you are at the reception.

DH and I attended our CH so we could greet everyone and not have to do it during the reception. That was one of the best decisions we made for the evening. We got to be a part of our CH and put less pressure on ourselves for later when all we wanted to do was dance and have a great time.
BTW, our 'grand' entrance was just as grand!

Definitely go to the CH if you can!!!
I'm so glad we were able to get all the photos out of the way before hand. We were actually done early enough to stand in the main lobby to greet the guests coming in. I didnt even have to go around during the CH to do it! I was able to sit with my guests at the tables and eat lol

i had to do a dress change so couldn't go for most of our cocktail hour but was able to pop in for about 10 minutes just to check out the room and say hi~ i think that if you're not doing a dress change, then it'd be great to be at cocktail hour, take pictures, say hi to friends. there'll be less of an opportunity to do so once reception starts IMO.

at first fh and i were going to use the cocktail to take pictures. he didnt want to see me until i was walking down the aisle but that all changed. thank god
we made the decision to take pictures before the ceremony only because we are spending so much on everything!!! FH wants live entertainment at the CH as well so we really want to enjoy it!!!
we thought about the 'grand entrance' but again we are paying for everything!!!
